New to Grow
I have been a mental health professional for more than twenty years, working with individuals who often find themselves at a crossroads and unsure where to begin in addressing what they are feeling. My experience spans a variety of settings, including community mental health, public schools, disability services, and outpatient care. These experiences have allowed me to work with people from diverse backgrounds facing a wide range of challenges. I strive to provide a supportive, compassionate environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward meaningful change.
An initial therapy session is what I like to call a "getting to know you" conversation rather than diving deeply into complex issues right away. It is important that I understand what you are looking for in a therapist and your perspective on previous therapy experiences if applicable. I will also inquire about current symptoms or stressors, mental and physical health history, medications, relationships and family, work, school, or daily life, and a discussion of goals. We will also review important policies, such as cancellation procedures, and discuss a plan for what to do if a crisis or emergency situation arises. The goal of the first session is to create a comfortable space to begin building rapport and developing a shared understanding of how we can work together.
I have experience with multiple interventions, to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy (SBFT), Mindfulness, and Talk Therapy; modalities that can assist you in processing challenging situations. I encourage the practice of journaling and using aromatherapy to reduce stress and anxiety. I offer telehealth services so that you can engage in therapy from the comfort of your home and in the evening for convenience.
I typically work with young adults navigating life transitions such as starting college, entering the workforce, or managing career changes. I also have experience supporting individuals as they work through the complexities of family conflict. These challenges can often contribute to anxiety, depression, and self-esteem concerns, and I strive to help clients build the insight and coping skills needed to navigate them effectively. While I primarily work with adults ages 18 and older, I also provide telehealth services for teenagers when it is an appropriate fit. My goal is to collaborate with you throughout this journey, helping you develop the tools and strategies needed to lead a healthy, balanced, and fulfilling life.
