Hello! I bring 16 years of mental health experience along for your sessions. I consider myself a generalist and I'm happy to help you with any need or concern that you might have. Some of the areas where I have the most experience are depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and grief and loss. I work with almost all age groups however, I typically do not work with persons under the age of 18. If you are a minor, please consult with me before scheduling an intake and I will consider your need and my areas of expertise and help you determine our next steps. I am also no longer able to accommodate couples therapy. If you are seeking a couples therapy session I will be happy to assist you with a referral. I have spent the majority of my career working in a University setting and have helped many college-age adults make meaningful changes. I have also worked in behavioral health clinics and have experience working with clients that have been legally referred to therapy. If you would like to make an appointment and cannot find a time that works for you, please feel free to call me at my office (please leave a voicemail if I'm unavailable) or send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can move some things around to accommodate your need. 806-701-2601 or chris@beginningchange.com

I'm very pleased you are reaching out for help. For some, taking the first step toward counseling can be the hardest. I am in my 35th year of practice in the San Antonio area. I am very open to whatever works best for you (as long as it does not harm you or others). I provide high quality psychotherapy. Often there are many twists and turns as one becomes psychologically and socially healthier. It is my goal with every client to demonstrate empathy, kindness, and the utmost care I am able to provide. I never judge others. We are free to live our lives as we please. It seems to me many of my skills developed partially due to chronic low vision, and the problems that come with it. It is natural for me to perceive ones pain and distress, as I've dealt with my own. I appreciative you are considering me for the assistance you seek! It is a High Honor and Privilege to be invited into one's personal life to facilitate positive change.

Hello! My name is Jessica Aleman, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) serving the wonderful people of Texas. I have over 10 years experience in direct practice. Right now, I am working part-time as a therapist in addition to my full time position. One of my favorite things to do is spend time at the beach with my husband and spending time with my dogs Piper and Leo. I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people in some capacity and during school settled into social work. Experiences I have had growing up with my family allowed wonderful mental health professionals to help various family members on different things, and I am happy to now be that person who can support others. I have a great deal of experience providing treatment for a number of different diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, and mood disorders (among others). I also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community to provide support and connection to resources. I have worked in a variety of settings, from community mental health, school based counseling (K-12 and higher education), and private practice settings. I believe that people are not defined by their experiences or what has happened to them in their past. Some of us just need some help to move forward in our lives past those experiences. I try my best to treat you and our therapeutic relationship with the utmost respect and understanding. My passion is working with young adults as they transition to the next stage in life, whatever that may be. I love supporting people through life changes and transitions, allowing people to blossom into who they truly are.

Therapy is the beginning of an individual's journey to living a full and meaningful life, after experiencing different challenges in life that got them stuck. Working with individuals on this journey is truly a privilege and one that I take with the greatest compassion and understanding of a client's courage in taking this first step. As your therapist, I can help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we cannot change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. If you are depressed, struggling at times to get out of bed, not finding fun in your everyday life, I can help you live more gratefully and joyfully. This over-connected, technological world can make you anxious, but we'll work together to settle your mind. If you find yourself having a hard time lowering your irritation and controlling your anger, then I'll teach you how to think and not just react. Guilt can weigh you down and keep you trapped, so we will examine together how to forgive yourself. If your relationships are troubling and you find it difficult to talk with others effectively, we can improve your communication skills. Some days can seem a blur of almost constant stress and overwhelm, and I can show you what it's like to relax, be still and find peace.

After many years of exploring a variety of jobs I finally began to focus on assisting others in this adventure called "life ." As an adult. I began serving through Christian ministry and then realized I was even more fulfilled in working more specifically in the wider field of mental health. After getting both master's and a doctoral degree in mental health, I worked in clinical settings, counseling centers, crisis centers, my own private practice , and university settings. While managing my own counseling center, I also served several years teaching graduate students in the areas of counseling and psychology. My joy comes from helping others regain control of life when cognitions, emotions, and behaviors have caused distress. We do not always understand the "why" of life experiences, however we can gain mastery of our thinking, feeling, and doing and continue to enhance functioning and happiness.

Hello Friend! Everyone at one point or another will find themselves dealing with a host of unbearable stressors, as if weighed down. We may even describe the feeling as 'lost in a web of frustration'. Some may describe that sense of being as anxious, fatigue, or sadness, as if our unique threshold is completely depleted. But did you know feeling anxiousness is normal? Many would not know that feeling stress is actually a sense of determination for control and feeling tired is just temporary. Anxiousness is innate in all of us to escape danger. What's not healthy is when the stressors has crossed the threshold to what feels comfortable and interrupts our daily habits/responsibilities. But how do we 'fix things' when all we want is to be alone? When life throws us lemons, make lemonade? As simple as finding a helper - me. I’ll help you navigate the web of confusion to find YOUR empowerment. My journey began as a young child whose home was a host of struggles/abuse which later became insight into the struggles others experience. I found a well-regarded psychotherapist who helped me learn life-long cognitive tools. Later, as a psychotherapist in a clinical setting, I garnered a vast amount of knowledge which helped me to specialize in various modalities of treatment. Proper psychotherapists should emphasize there is no such thing as "the magic pill" and most treatments don't require medication. I hold a high standard for clients' rights as a mental health advocate with a high standard for myself. I serve all slices of society including those dealing with depression, grief, anxiety, relationship issues, past trauma, adjustment, chronic health and other issues. Together, we can identify what's not working for you. We will find solutions you innately use and form goals that do NOT require much change in your life.

A little about me, I have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Kean University in Union, NJ. I have worked within hospitals, residential treatment facilities, community mental health centers, non-profit organizations, schools, major health insurance companies, and private practice. The past few years have been difficult for so many of us... It seems like any issues we had before the pandemic were put on hold and we were then faced with a brand new set of overwhelming issues to cope with! Now that it seems we are beginning to return to some sense of normalcy, there's finally time to focus on personal growth and healing.

Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope was created by a Licensed Professional Counselor who had a vision to encourage, motivate and provide access to tools needed to overcome current circumstances. Ramir stands for Rising Above My Inner Rival. Ramir is confirmation that we can accomplish anything regardless of the opposition we face. On March 7, 2018 the Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope, PLLC was established and confirmation was received that the storm was not meant to last always. As a child, mental health was present in my family and thus prepared me for the dynamics of not only the diagnosis but more importantly the person and those that surround them. Growing up, I played a part and everyone was treated the same regardless of their mental status, pill count, change in mood, IQ, anxiety level or temporary isolation that would occur. We, as a family, understood what it would take to maintain our family. My goal as a Licensed Professional Counselor is to provide an environment that reciprocates what my family and community offered. There is no special formula that can erase your situation but there is a way to get through it. The Inner Rival is the battle we have within, which is usually hidden from the world. Although at times, what we are facing is situational, it has an effect on us internally. The purpose of Ramir's Counseling Center of Hope, PLLC, is to work with each client to expose, address and conquer whatever that may be. So, I ask, are you ready? Below you will find my educational background. I am currently licensed to practice in the state of Texas. Education: University of North Texas Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Minor in Social Science Certificate in Substance Abuse Studies Amberton University Master of Arts in Professional Counseling
