Howdy! I am honored to be a part of your journey of healing and helping you become the best version of yourself. I have a passion for building deeply rooted connections with all of my clients. My experience as a special education teacher, school administrator, high school counselor, and special education counselor for 27 years has provided me the knowledge and skills to work with your child, adolescent, and even adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, addiction, or PTSD. Understanding how these challenges ultimately affect behaviors in the classroom, at home, and in the workplace environments, help fuel my passion to connect, learn and problem solve with my clients and their families on an interpersonal level in an effort to build hope and resilience. I received my education and training in understanding behavioral, emotional, learning and psychological disorders, as well as professional school counseling and mental health counseling from Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy & Eclectic Therapy modality in my sessions. In your first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we will look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I will help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to charge your feelings for the better.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My experience as a special education teacher, school administrator and professional school counselor for almost three decades has provided me with the knowledge and skills to work with clients of all ages. I have also been a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice and public health for several years. Throughout my time of serving others, I have developed techniques to help my clients feel safe and valued, so that they can find the courage to feel vulnerable and 'dig deep' to discover the root cause of the challenges in which they are facing.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My clinical training is focused on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I utilize this evidence-based approach to combat symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, addiction and trauma. It is my belief that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help my clients become more aware of irrational or negative thinking so that they can see situations clearly, process these situations, and respond to these situations in healthy ways. My goal is to provide a safe environment to identify internal problems to help clients develop and utilize new coping strategies, while also building my client's self-esteem to further empower them to discover hope and resilience.

Eclectic

I also utilized Eclectic Therapy modality approach in my sessions where I draw from relevant techniques from other evidence-based therapy modalities. I work with each client to develop individualized treatment plans which adapts to the unique needs of my clients.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a type of talk therapy for people who experience emotions very intensely. It is based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but it is specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely. Dialectical means combining opposite ideas. DBT focuses on helping people accept the reality of their lives and their behaviors, as well as helping them learn to change their lives, including their unhelpful behaviors.
