Hello, my name is Kelley Machado, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Connecticut. You may wonder what does Licensed Clinical Social Worker mean, what does that allow me to do? As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I have the unique opportunity to help people work through various points in their lives. In the years I have been a social worker I have worked with various populations of people from many socioeconomic, cultural, and racial backgrounds as well as people with various presenting concerns. I began my career working in the mental health system, then the criminal justice system, then onto medical social work including various medical issues as well as aging and end of life concerns. I believe people can experience difficulties with coping whenever faced with a transition in life. These changes can include monumental transitions that are both good or bad, like a new job, new family members, loss, separations, disappointments, traumatic events, etc. These types of experiences can cause psychosocial distress which can have far-reaching impacts on many aspects of our lives. I work with my clients who include children, adults, couples, and families to find healthy coping methods in order to gain a healthier perception of themselves which can help to strengthen their relationships with themselves and others so they can find themselves as comfortable, secure, and whole. I take time to get to know each of my clients on an individual basis so that I can tailor approaches to care because I have learned that not one approach impacts and helps all clients. I have been trained and adopted many approaches to provide therapeutic support including cognitive-behavioral, attachment theory, developmental theory, trauma theory, and dialectical behavioral theory. Change is not easy and embarking on change takes a tremendous amount of courage and actions. I congratulate you on your wish, strength, and wisdom for seeking help and taking this first step towards making a change in your life. If you are prepared to move beyond wishes and intentions to action and fulfillment- I am here to empower and support you to achieve your goals. I would love to help you reach your goals, whatever that may be in life so you can move forward

Those answers are the gateway to resolution. Call me and let’s talk.” I believe there are no broken people. Decisions made during difficult, emotional times are influenced by unsettled parts. Through talk therapy, we can address past hurts in a safe and supportive therapeutic space free of judgment. Doing so will begin the healing process. The focus is to empower your quiet voice within to share your truth with first yourself and then others. My work as a psychotherapist is rooted in a profound belief that by recognizing and honoring our complex, messy life stories with honesty and gentleness, we lay the foundation to heal the obstacles preventing us from building fulfilling, meaningful lives. Throughout life, we all create narratives about ourselves to help us survive. These narratives are shaped by myriad factors (individual life experiences, relationships, intergenerational legacies, and experiences of oppression/privilege, belonging/rejection, among others). Over time, our narratives and coping mechanisms fall short. We wonder, what went wrong? What's wrong with me?

Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who believe that healing and growth are possible for everyone, regardless of their circumstances. My goal as a counselor is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Through active listening, empathy, and unconditional positive regard, I aim to foster a strong therapeutic relationship that promotes trust and openness. I integrate spiritual principles and practices into the therapeutic process in my faith-based counseling approach. Faith can provide comfort, guidance, and hope during difficult times. By incorporating clients' beliefs and values into therapy, I help them explore their spirituality as a source of strength and resilience. I also recognize the importance of addressing the mind-body connection in therapy. Our physical health and well-being are closely tied to our mental and emotional well-being. I encourage clients to engage in self-care practices, such as exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate sleep, to support their overall well-being. As an experienced counselor, I have worked with a diverse range of clients and have experience in addressing various mental health challenges. Whether it's anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, or relationship issues, I am committed to providing personalized support tailored to each individual's needs. Outside of my professional life, I find fulfillment in spending time with my family, attending church, going on vacations, listening to gospel music, cooking, and reading. These experiences bring me joy and inform and inspire my counseling approach. I look forward to working with you on your journey toward healing, growth, and a renewed sense of purpose. Together, we can navigate your challenges and empower you to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
