Hello and welcome to my page, bienvenidos a mi pagina, I am originally a native to the Los Angeles area and have a Mexican American background. I am bilingual in both English and Spanish. I look forward to building a therapeutic relationship with you by providing support and guidance as we navigate the challenges you experience in your life. It can be difficult to be vulnerable and open when you are experiencing feelings of hopelessness or loss of motivation. I honor your courageousness in embarking on your road to recovery, awareness, and growth. We can assess where you are and where to begin; this journey is led by you. I am here to meet you where you are and as you are. I approach life with the understanding that pain is a natural part of the human experience, yet how we interpret and handle that pain can be a choice. My goal is to assist you in developing strategies to navigate life's challenges more effectively. I use person centered and mindfulness based therapy that increases self awareness. Through cognitive based therapy, you can challenge barriers that prevent you from reaching your goals.
In our initial session, I'll introduce myself and provide an overview of the therapeutic process, including confidentiality guidelines. You'll have the chance to ask questions and address any concerns you may have. I'll encourage you to openly discuss the reasons that led you to seek therapy, giving you the space to share your concerns, emotions, and significant life events or experiences.
My experience spans eight years, during which I've worked with diverse populations, equipping me with a range of tools and insights. Central to my approach is fostering honest and transparent communication with clients. In therapy, we cultivate a nurturing space where clients feel empowered in guiding their own journey. I tailor therapy techniques to individual needs and collaborate with clients to establish realistic and attainable goals.
This is a collaborative and affirming space in which we build trust. I welcome all lived experiences. Early in my career, I began working with communities facing disadvantages. Assisting clients from marginalized groups, who lacked financial resources for therapy, was deeply fulfilling. Witnessing emotional and psychological healing through perseverance and motivation laid the foundation for my passion to help others, shaping my current therapy practice. As a Spanish-speaking clinician, I value the ability to connect and work with diverse Spanish-speaking communities. I am eager to continue utilizing this skill in my practice.
CBT can be helpful when identifying irrational thoughts and clients have found it to helpful towards controlling their emotions. Once negative thought patterns are identified, clients work to challenge and reframe these thoughts. They learn to replace irrational or unhelpful thoughts with more rational and positive ones.
MBT allows individuals to be present and it emphasizes accepting thoughts and feelings as they are, without trying to change or suppress them. Practicing this can assist clients with reducing their inner conflict and suffering.
I practice from a non-judgemental perspective where I believe in offering unconditional positive regard. This form of therapy can help clients experience greater self awareness through self exploration allowing them to find solutions to their problems.
I have experience with utilizing DBT for both group and individual sessions. With clients that typically have weekly individual therapy sessions, clients work on a variety of issues, including emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and problem-solving.
