You are not broken or in need of fixing, you are just stuck. What you may feel is a hopeless situation is something workable that can be used as a strength. Everyone’s obstacles look different but each is a step toward achieving peace. Many of our obstacles originate from trauma we have encountered. Why can’t we just navigate our obstacles on our own? Because, for many different reasons we aren’t equipped with the tools needed to do so. Following my graduation from Azusa Pacific University School of Behavioral an Applied Sciences with my Masters of Social Work degree, I have spent the last 3 years helping people facing the challenges of anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship challenges, parenting struggles, and PTSD. I have walked with clients to help them rediscover tools and empower them to create the lives they want to live.

Hi! I'm Dr. Chelsea Acker, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise working with children and adolescents. I'm experienced with a range of concerns, but I have specialized training in treating trauma, suicidality, and early psychosis. In 2019, I graduated from the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium, where I trained at the Stanford School of Medicine's psychiatry department and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital's program at a local high school. I attended internship (our version of residency, more or less) at the UC Davis Medical Center, where I received world-class training in the treatment of childhood trauma and early psychosis, both separately and together. I then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Chicago Child Trauma Center, where I continued to build my expertise in the treatment of childhood trauma. After that, I worked at Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, for two and a half years, where I specialized in working with children and adolescents with complex, persistent symptom presentations, who had often been hospitalized multiple times for safety concerns and struggled to make progress with previous therapists.

I know what it’s like to face adversity, and I understand how overwhelming grief and loss can feel. Whether you're coping with the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or another significant life change, you're not meant to go through it alone. Grief can make it hard to see a way forward, but healing is possible. With support and guidance, you can begin to process your pain, reconnect with yourself, and rediscover joy and meaning in your life. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping many individuals navigate the complex emotions of grief. And I truly believe that no matter where you are right now, there is hope for a brighter future.

Hello, I’m Ciarys, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and Texas. As a therapist, I believe that a kind and supportive, client-focused approach is crucial in helping navigate the many challenges that life can bring. I create a warm, nonjudgmental, safe, and supportive space where we can explore and address the various thoughts, emotions, experiences, etc. that can make everyday life tough. Life can be full of challenges, and sometimes, seeking professional support can be a game-changer. I’m proud to be able to meet my clients where they are at, as we explore what therapy has to offer. NOTE: At this time I am not able to provide evening or weekend appointments. My current scheduled openings are M-TH 10am - 4pm (Pacific Time) / 12pm - 6pm (Central Time). I grew up in Los Angeles, California and am currently residing in Austin, TX. I earned my Bachelors in Psychology with a Minor in Chicano/a Studies at the University of California Los Angeles in 2012 and my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at the University of Southern California in 2018. As a Latina woman, I have had the privilege of serving the Spanish-speaking community in addition to serving English-speakers of all different races and backgrounds. Specifically, I have experience providing counseling services to adolescents, adults and seniors. In 2023 I opened my private practice, Alta Therapy Center, with the hopes of making mental health more accessible.

My clients have often told me that I bring a genuine and compassionate atmosphere to sessions which helps them feel more at ease. I take a very nonjudgmental "at your own pace" type of approach. Hi, I’m Kassidy, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Orange County. I specialize in supporting adolescents, adults, and families who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship struggles, sports performance pressures, and trauma. Before becoming a therapist, I was a Division I soccer player at Northwestern University. That experience taught me a lot about resilience, teamwork, and managing pressure - qualities I bring into my therapeutic work. I can understand how balancing high expectations in sports, relationships, or life can feel overwhelming, and I’m passionate about helping clients build the skills and insight they need to not only cope but truly thrive. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and rooted in genuine curiosity. I strive to create a space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore the patterns and experiences that shape your life. I believe that healing happens in relationships - both with others and with ourselves - and I work to support you in building insight, self-compassion, and meaningful change.

With longevity in clinical practice, I work with individuals facing life transitions, grief & loss, depression, anxiety, trauma & other issues that stymie hope and joy, desires & dreams; & life goals. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. As your therapist I will support you in building the skills you need to navigate everyday life stressors. I have years of experience working in the areas of anxiety, trauma, suicidality, depression, PTSD, adjustment disorder, and relationship issues. I also have had the opportunity to work in diverse settings both inpatient and outpatient programs, long and short term, and with various populations of different cultural, ethnic, sexual orientations, gender identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I am a strong believer in providing a safe space for everyone. It can be difficult at times to find openness and support and I am happy to help with those challenges. It is important to develop a safe non-judgmental space to help build a better trusting relationship to help guide you and learn ways to live with more joy and fulfillment in your life. It is not easy to reach out and ask for help. It is incredibly difficult for so many people to seek the care they need. You are already taking one of the most important steps and allowing yourself to make your self-care a priority. This process can be both confusing and overwhelming, but I am looking forward to working collaboratively with you on this journey.

For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside children, teens, young adults, and adults as they navigate life’s many challenges. I use an eclectic approach, which simply means I pull from different types of therapy models depending on what fits each person best. No two people are the same, so together we’ll find tools and approaches that work for your life and goals. Sometimes that looks like building new coping skills, sometimes it’s unpacking trauma, and sometimes it’s just having a space where you can fully be yourself. My goal is to create a safe and collaborative space where clients feel truly heard, seen and understood. Together, we can explore patterns, uncover strengths, and build strategies for lasting change. I believe therapy is not just about addressing struggles, it’s about cultivating growth, resilience, and self-discovery. If you’re ready to take that step, I’d be honored to walk with you on your journey.

After nearly three decades as a psychodynamic therapist, I've seen firsthand how profound self-reflection and a willingness to explore our hidden parts can lead to true healing. My extensive experience, built on rigorous training in psychodynamic theory, allows me to guide you in understanding how unconscious processes, developmental influences, and early relationships shape your current experiences. I offer a space where we can delve deeply into the unconscious roots of your emotional difficulties and behavioral patterns. This often involves powerful inner child healing, helping you connect with and nurture earlier parts of yourself that may be carrying unresolved pain. We'll also engage in shadow work, integrating the unacknowledged aspects of yourself, and explore your dreams to uncover symbolic insights. Our work will aim toward a more integrated sense of Self, moving beyond the public persona to embrace your authentic being. My approach is deeply rooted in humanistic principles, particularly those of Person-Centered (Rogerian) Therapy. This means I prioritize creating a genuinely empathetic, non-judgmental, and unconditionally accepting environment. I believe you possess an innate capacity for growth and self-actualization, and my role is to facilitate that journey. To complement this depth work with practical support, I strategically integrate select tools from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This provides you with concrete skills for mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance, empowering you to manage intense feelings and navigate daily challenges more effectively while we work on deeper transformation. Ultimately, my goal is to foster profound insight, enable lasting change, and help you develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Therapy is my passion! I absolutely love to watch my clients grow and change before my eyes. Hi, I’m Lois, Mother of 3 amazing boys, business owner and lover of life. I have learned so much through my years of working with clients individually, in groups and with families and couples. What I have learned is that as humans we are resilient! We have been given this life to have joy and life lessons. I have been honored to guide and encourage many clients over the last 20 years. It is my life purpose to help others especially when they cannot see the abundance and joy that is around us. I use many different modalities to guide clients on their journey. One of my main modalities is EMDR. Recently I completed the Internal Family Systems (IFS) training which is also a very effective healing modality. I'm always excited to learn new techniques and offer a variety of modalities to assist my clients in their healing journey. I also use short-term solution-focused therapy, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) among others to bring about change. I truly believe as a therapist I must do my own work, for I cannot take you to a place that I have not visited. I have done many years of my own therapy, attended healing retreats, participated in group therapy and attended 12 step meetings, writing and more recently I became certified as a Kundalini Yoga teacher. My main goal for the Kundalini teacher training was to deepen my practice, to understand myself and others on a deeper level and to inspire others to use self care, chanting and meditation to create healing physically, spiritually and mentally. My specialties include trauma and I have extensive experience and training in childhood to adulthood trauma. I’m also experienced in grief counseling while working at Hospice and received excellent training in the field of death and dying. I continue to work with couples with various issues around trust, infidelity, communication and parenting. I enjoy and work with young adults who are working on discovering their gifts and realizing their dreams and goals, but are feeling stuck and confused. I love challenging my clients about their blocking beliefs and the “parts” that hold them back so that they can realize their unique and abundant potential. As a result of trauma and negative experiences, many clients have experienced depression and anxiety. I welcome the opportunity to provide tools and delve into the reasons for these issues and find a positive solution, quickly. I have experience in and continue to work with those addicted to substances, technology and other addictive disorders. I have experience in 12 step programs and encourage clients to find support in recovery and have resources to help the addicted client and their families.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
