Bryce Hansen

LCSW, 1 years of experience

Hello there! I’m an LCSW and I practice mental health therapy at Old Towne Counseling of Newburgh. I am taking new clients! I am an EMDR Trained Clinician, and I am very excited to be able to offer this service to the public because of how helpful it can be! I’ve been practicing therapy since I graduated with my MSW from IUPUI in 2017

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, it will feel like I'm firing off questions, but I'm just trying to get to know you the best that I can, so we can build a plan to best address your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I’m also a big believer in a person’s capacity to grow in a therapist’s office when they feel comfortable, so developing rapport (a solid working relationship in which you can feel confident in the changes you make) is also a big part of my work.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I like to help people who feel “stuck" feel “unstuck." I have a lot of experience working with people ages 18 and older (of any orientation or background) with varying issues including anxiety, depression, addictions, and trauma. I've been trained in many therapy styles including CBT, CPT, ACT so I can adapt to a person's needs, but I have a focus in EMDR.

EMDR

Most people experience a range of symptoms after suffering a trauma in their life. They might be classic PTSD symptoms, but they may also present in other ways, looking closer to depression, general anxiety, panic disorder; and/or sometimes substance use or even overeating. I use EMDR to reduce the intensity of those symptoms regardless of the results of that traumatic event. Through EMDR, you can simultaneously feel less bothered by an event but also think differently in a way that helps you to feel empowered about encountering stressful events in the future. EMDR targets the past, present, and future to help you feel better all the way around.
