I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of New York and Indiana. I have a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University-Los Angeles. Previously, I had a 30 year career in the Film & Television industry. My passions were, the Film business & Psychology. I said to myself, the day I become disinterested in the Film business, I'll go to graduate school, get my degree in psychology and become a psychotherapist. That day came and here I am. I have been practicing since 2009.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

So, congratulations to you for seeking an opportunity to address your concerns. New clients can be anxious and ambivalent about seeking a new therapist and that makes sense. When I meet a new client I am taken with their courage and motivation to seek therapy. This speaks to your desire to feel better. We will identify which issues you have which we will discuss in the sessions

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

People have told me I have an interesting background. My childhood was split between the city and the suburbs and I experience how both environments operate. I had a 30 year career in the film business and learned a lot and it taught me how to accomplish and survive. I have worked with many different types of people from all over the world and I am genuinely fascinated and interested in working with them. I have cats.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My counseling style is warm, relaxed and I like to provide a comfortable and non-judgmental environment. I work with clients with a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, family issues, communication issues, career dilemmas and anger issues among others. I believe everyone deserves a chance to feel better. I am fascinated with everyone’s story who comes through my virtual door and it is my honor to collaborate with them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Will work with the client in breaking down thinking, behaviors and actions and exploring the idea that one's thinking needs to change before behavior changes.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Mindfulness is a important role within DBT. We want to become more mindful of other people and other things besides ourselves. We need to take a break from ourselves to reboot and be more mindful outside of ours selves so we can come back stronger for ourselves. I also work with many DBT and mindfulness exercises for the client to practice outside the session as well as interactive exercises in the session.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I work with Emotional Focused Therapy with couples among other theaoectical orientations and in using EFT, some of teh work is navigating the couple away from identifying the other as the problem. I work with the couple to learn that their identities are separate from the problems and not to think of them as the same. I also work with the couple to lessen and eventually stop their negative interaction loops.

Motivational Interviewing

With Motivational Interviewing I make reflective and complex reflective statements to learn from the clients. I ask them to look at the pros and cons of a situation. I also ask open ended questions and summarize the work we did in the session for the clients.
