Julianna Gallion
I specialize in trauma recovery and a deeper understanding of grief, one that recognizes that loss isn’t just about death, but about any life-altering change that leaves a void. Trauma doesn’t just live in the past, it lives in our dreams, our bodies, and the gaps in our memories.
If you are experiencing ‘forgotten’ memories, bad dreams, or the aftermath of sexual abuse, you don’t have to carry that weight alone.
If you are experiencing ‘forgotten’ memories, bad dreams, or the aftermath of sexual abuse, you don’t have to carry that weight alone. Whether your pain feels loud or like a quiet, persistent void, I provide a compassionate space to process these "invisible" wounds.
First session
The first session can be a bit uncomfortable and isn't at all what following sessions will look like, so bear with me! An intake gives me a summary of your life experiences and what is bringing you to therapy at this point in time. It is really just the background information so I can have some context as we move through the issues that you are dealing with now.
Strengths
I have worked in a variety of different environments that have given me unique perspectives into the lives of others, such as working with families impacted by DCS as well as in the prison system for the state of Indiana. I have also participated in additional trainings to develop my skills in working with trauma and difficult pasts. By integrating tools like EMDR, CBT, and Mindfulness, we work together to bridge the gaps in your story and move you from a state of survival into a life of genuine fulfillment.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is a client that is tired of holding it all together. From the outside everything may seem fine. You may be managing all the checkboxes day to day and taking care of everyone else, but inside you are exhausted. You may be struggling with unresolved trauma, anxiety, depression, difficult relationships, low self worth, or just the ups and downs of life. I want to offer you a safe place to unpack everything, whether that be from years in the past or something that happened minutes before meeting with me. I want you to come to me and feel understood and begin healing. Together we can work through the root of the issues and not just manage the symptoms on the surface.
Treatment methods
EMDR
EMDR can be helpful in processing distressing memories, experiences, or beliefs that may still be affecting them today. We utilize guided bilateral stimulation, such as eye movement or tapping, to help reduce the emotional intensity of the memories.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
REBT helps the client uncover beliefs and thought patterns that influence their emotional responses. Once we identify the irrational beliefs and how they are impacting the client we can work to replace them with more realistic and balanced perspectives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT can be used to identify unhelpful thought patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, or other daily challenges in life. We can reframe these and develop healthier ways of coping to create change that lasts.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT combines acceptance and change to help the client develop practical skills for life to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress.
