New to Grow
I am a licensed mental health counselor living in central Indiana. I am a graduate of IU Columbus, and have been in practice since 2022. As a therapist, I use a person centered approach along with teaching skills to help clients navigate life challenges, emotional situations, and better cope with their anxiety and/or depression. I have experience working with people across the life span with most of my client ages ranging between 20 to 65.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session tends to be all about getting to know each other. I like to have a full background on what brings a person to therapy and what their goals for therapy are. If a person is not certain about goals, we will collaborate to identify their goals for therapy.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Being a therapist is my third career in life. I bring to my therapeutic approach life experiences which allow me to better understand some of the complexities people face on a daily basis. I tend to be eclectic in which interventions I use. I like to tailor therapy sessions to best meet the client's needs.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have experience in assisting clients in navigating life changes, bereavement, coping with anxiety and/or depression. I also work with people who have been diagnosed with chronic illnesses work on accepting the changes in their lives; this includes navigating their sense of loss due to their diagnosis. I am also an ally who has experience working with members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I have training in using ACT in therapy sessions. I use interventions based on client needs to assist them in setting goals, learning how to recognize complex emotions and navigate their experiences in order to have a richer, fuller life.
Strength-Based
I have been utilizing a strengths based person centered approach to therapy since graduating with my master's in mental health counseling. This intervention is based on helping a person better recognize their abilities, practice self-compassion, and build coping skills based upon each person's needs
