Hey there! My name is Lindsay, and I have been a mental health clinician for 10 years, working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2018. I am also a certified yoga teacher, and have found meaningful ways to build mindfulness practices and develop the mind-body connection to address several mental health concerns for those who are open to this approach. My general approach to therapy is to build a comfortable and psychologically safe environment. I think it is most important to build a meaningful relationship with clients, that allows for sharing, growth, and personal empowerment. I have a laid-back approach to therapy and do my best to meet clients where they are with attention to unique needs. Outside of my clinical work in mental health, I am an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Ball State University. I completed my PhD in 2024 focusing on increasing awareness of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and how we may build better therapeutic interventions for this population. I thoroughly enjoy being able to bridge gaps between mental health research, teaching the next generation of clinicians, and maintaining clinical work myself.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I think it is important to spend the first session getting to know each other and reviewing client history. Taking the time to understand all areas of life allows me to take a holistic approach in addressing your concerns and needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I like to think personality traits of empathetic, caring, open, and grounded bring strength to my therapeutic practice. I have a wide variety of experience with various populations, challenges, and demographics which has helped me expand my skills over the years.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am most comfortable working with adult women who have complex trauma histories or are otherwise working to build their personal identity. Additionally, I have most experience working with adult women who struggle with depression and anxiety and are looking to process triggers, events that have left to challenges, and build coping skills. I also enjoy working with transitional aged youth (18-25) clients who are working on building their identities and discovering what they would like to develop to set them up for success in the present and future.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a therapeutic tool I use to help in challenging negative self-talk, anxious thoughts, and addressing things like low motivation. This is useful tool in addressing symptoms of depression, anxiety, interpersonal stress, and trauma symptoms.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT to help in managing triggers for things that can cause more intense anxiety and overwhelm. The skills explored in DBT help most with emotion regulation, working towards acceptance of things we cannot change, and increasing grounding skills to decrease distressing symptoms.

Mind-body approach

I believe connecting the body and mind allows for a more holistic approach to mental health treatment. I particularly emphasize the development of the mind-body connection in treating trauma. This has shown to be effective in addressing symptoms of hypervigilance, as well as increasing a person's feelings of empowerment in daily life.

Strength-Based

Everyone has strengths to pull from when addressing mental health challenges. I believe in drawing focus to your strengths to build resilience, empowerment, and support.
