Michelle is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She obtained a Masters in Art Therapy Counseling degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Michelle has 12 years of clinical experience and blends neurodiversity-affirming, and person-centered practices with creative approaches to guide clients toward emotional well-being. Michelle is a neurodivergent individual, and is the parent of an adult child who is neurodivergent. As such, she has an understanding and experience navigating the social world through an atypical lens. Michelle also has extensive knowledge navigating services related to autism and ADHD at the local, state and federal level. Addressing challenges such as relationship issues, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and more, Michelle’s person-centered approach and affirming-care ensures clients feel truly seen and supported.
Michelle seeks to validate and normalize client’s experiences while collaborating with them to navigate the social world and maximize their self-worth, independence and quality of life. Michelle has extensive training in evidence-based treatment modalities, such as: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Integrative Treatment for Complex Trauma (ITCT), Attachment-based therapy (ABT), as well as the Internal Family Systems Model (IFS). Michelle employs components of the aforementioned treatment models as appropriate in treatment. Michelle also enjoys utilizing art and play therapy techniques in treatment and just as importantly, humor.
