Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in just about every mental health setting. My specialty is in Trauma Informed therapy, working with clients with symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In addition to trauma and abuse, I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, compassion fatigue, grief and loss, issues with negative self-talk, motivation, self-esteem and confidence, family conflict, stress and life changes. I use an integrative treatment approach, focusing on the balance of spirit, soul and body, tailoring the method of therapy to your individual personality and needs. If you are seeking any kind of emotional healing or inner healing, look no further. I have a personal and deep understanding of the courageous journey you will take with this approach toward healing the wounds of the past. I am patient and kind in the therapeutic relationship. I want you to "come as you are" and feel accepted and free to reveal yourself at your own pace. I know it is difficult sometimes to even know where to start on the healing journey, and I will meet you where you are. I have been described as a joyful person who creates a peaceful and safe space for vulnerability. I hope you take the opportunity to join me there.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will begin with brief introductions, then we will begin to discuss the issues that have brought you to therapy. Sometimes it is difficult to share and some like to dive right in. As you reveal your needs at your own pace, we will develop a unique and integrative treatment plan especially for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My twenty plus years of experience along with a passion for up to date continual training as a mental health provider help me assess your needs.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I have found that identifying the pain of the past and processing the events in a therapeutic setting can bring inner healing of past traumatic events or trauma filled spaces of time in your life. Overtime, I hope we can bring you to a place where you feel safe, confident and centered. I find this method of therapy very effective with clients suffering from anxiety and panic attacks and complex PTSD.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy teaches a client to be in the here and now as well as break away from negative thought patterns that can cause a decline into a mood-disordered state; this therapy can help a person fight off a difficult frame of mind before it takes hold. Learning to identify the critical thought patterns that continue in our minds 24/7 and replacing those thoughts with kind, compassionate and positive self-talk is key to emotional regulation.

Eclectic

I use an eclectic type of psychotherapy tailored to fit the exact needs of the individual seeking treatment. Eclectic therapy is sometimes referred to as multi-modal or integrative therapy as therapists combine a variety of disciplines into one session. I am aware and value the fact that each client is unique and has unique needs in therapy. I am trained in many treatment methods and I draw the most relevant techniques from other evidence-based therapy modalities together for an effective, individualized treatment plan.
