Howdy! My name is Miquelle and I’m a licensed professional counselor in Texas. I have my bachelors degree in psychology from Texas A&M University. I then completed my masters degree at the University of St. Thomas. I have a background working in residential treatment facilities with children, adolescents, young adults and families. I take a person centered approach with my clients and believe that everyone deserves respect and a safe place to explore and grow as individuals. I firmly believe that people must first accept where they are in order to create change. I also incorporate both CBT and DBT skills in my practice with clients.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting counseling can be an intimidating and uncomfortable experience for many people. During the first session I seek to create a warm, relaxed environment for clients to share their stories at their own pace. I typically start with introductions and generalized information about the counseling process including confidentiality and methods used. I then allow clients to ask questions and explain to them we will be focusing on their goals and history during intake. Clients are encouraged to share only what they feel comfortable sharing as we get to know each other.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my strength is understanding and compassion for my clients. I will both empower and sometimes challenge you when needed. This journey is a collaborative effort that requires open honest communication without fear of judgment. I will take a holistic approach and together we can see how relationships, physical wellbeing, family, spiritual beliefs, and culture can impact mental health.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with clients from all differnt ages and walks of life. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their personal lives, careers, or school

Miquelle has grounded me. She consistently challenges me to make my life better; Whether that's by identifying bad habits (emotional or otherwise) or even revealing more perspectives on a situation than I saw. She always pushes me to think past my self-constructed mental barriers, and I look forward to learning from her every week. Miquelle has a strong authentic nature, and it has created a strong relationship for her as my confidant and my reliability partner. She makes me feel safe and heard.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my counseling practice, I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to be an effective and versatile approach for helping clients manage a range of emotional and behavioral challenges. My experience with CBT has allowed me to guide clients in identifying and challenging negative thought patterns, developing healthier coping mechanisms, and achieving meaningful behavioral changes. I incorporate CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and guided discovery to empower clients to take an active role in their own healing process. By fostering a collaborative and structured therapeutic environment, I help individuals build insight into the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, ultimately promoting greater self-awareness and long-term personal growth. CBT’s evidence-based foundation aligns with my goal of providing clients with practical tools they can apply outside of therapy, enhancing their ability to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.
