Hi! My name is Mira and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I graduated with a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health from Midwestern State University. I also graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelors of Arts in Human Development and Family Sciences and a concentration on Families and Personal Relationships. As a child of immigrant parents, I understand the complexities of inter-generational trauma. The weight of cultural and societal expectations can take a toll on one’s mental health. Family and religious pressure can also have a negative effect on our own identity and self-perception. I believe that no matter what our past has given us or what our future holds, we are capable of working through our life challenges. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients embrace their authentic self and discover new paths of healing and growth.
In our sessions, I aim to understand how your family dynamic impacts your life. In our first session, we’ll dive deeply into your family structure to identify recurring patterns that may shape your experiences.
I take a person-centered approach to therapy where I place a strong importance on the client-therapist relationship. I want my clients to feel seen and understood. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment for those in session through integrative and holistic techniques. I utilize practices that are based on principles of attachment, mindfulness, and self-compassion. I am passionate about inclusion, diversity and de-stigmatizing mental health in minority communities. I take on a social justice lens to help my clients feel empowered in their true authentic self.
Using this method, I aim to create a safe therapeutic environment, encouraging clients to explore and express emotions they may have repressed or avoided. We work on recognizing and understanding attachment triggers in relationships, and I help them develop healthier ways to meet emotional needs.
In each session, we explore values deeply, focusing on what clients find meaningful. If a client values connection, for instance, we work on small, manageable steps to foster that in their relationships. ACT’s emphasis on values-based living is particularly rewarding because it gives clients a sense of purpose and direction, helping them build resilience and lead more satisfying lives.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly effective approach I use to help clients manage intense emotions, impulsive behaviors, and challenges in relationships. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness principles, focusing on helping clients balance acceptance and change.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is an approach I use to help clients develop self-compassion, especially those who struggle with high self-criticism, shame, or a harsh inner critic. CFT’s emphasis on kindness and acceptance makes it a powerful tool in supporting clients toward self-acceptance and emotional healing, which are essential for long-term well-being.
Narrative Therapy is a collaborative and empowering approach that I use to help clients separate themselves from their problems, reframe their life stories, and view their challenges from new perspectives. This method is particularly helpful for individuals who feel defined by difficult experiences or labels, such as trauma, self-doubt, or societal expectations.
