Hello! I'm Rene Guillen, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. I am a retired Texas School Counselor, and my experience includes working with patients at San Juan Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, where I integrated faith into therapy to support couples with marriage issues. I also have a degree in Art which I often use in therapy sessions when requested or needed. I have helped many children, teenagers, and adults overcome anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. I've been married for 29 years, was an elite marathon runner, and am creatively passionate about helping clients improve their mental health, build meaningful relationships, and live joyful lives. Taking the first step toward improving your mental health is a significant achievement, and I'm here to support you on this journey!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will look specifically and ascertain the cause of the presenting problem, feeling, behavior, or challenge you might be facing (or any other goal). In this initial assessment or problem definition session, the client and I will create goals and objectives which will help determine the tailored treatment plan for the follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with many clients for 9 years, I have used extensive strategies and viewpoints for helping clients identify root cause(s) of their obstacle(s) and create customized treatment plans that will lead to measurable improvements.

Christian Counseling

I counseled many couples at San Juan's Catholic Charities of The Rio Grande Valley during my Practicum II Course. Many clients find hope and comfort from distress, depression, anxiety, broken relationships, using their faith. Christian Counseling is also of great benefit in finding solutions to marriage conflicts or crisis.
