Hello. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and received my graduate degree from Texas Tech University. I believe my life experience interacting with different people allows me to provide a distinctive perspective. Being a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor offers me a unique opportunity to not only address the addiction but also any underlying factors. Counseling has afforded me the chance to change lives, not only of the addict but also for those that love them. Those loved ones also need support.
The first session will be dedicated to getting to know each other, reducing any nervousness, and discussing your goals for these sessions. Based on this information an individualized plan will be developed so progress can be monitored.
Empathy is one of my strengths. I have an innate ability to listen, not just hear, but listen. Sometimes what needs to be discussed is hidden in what is not said or in body language. Also, having a sense as to when to push in an area or not to is an essential tool.
I’m Allen. Hello, and nice to meet you. I do hope you give yourself credit for taking this first step to feeling better. The prospect of counseling can be daunting and scary, yet you are here searching for support. I cannot and will not promise a certain outcome, but I will be there with you as you take the needed steps to improve your life. I strive to develop an open and welcoming environment. You are the expert on you, and no one knows you better. The obstacles of addiction, self-care, and involvement in the judicial system will be addressed as a team. My intent is to help you improve your life. Counseling is a journey of learning and believing in ourselves. When you are ready to make positive changes in your life please contact me.
Although I incorporate various treatment methods I rely heavily on Humanistic theory especially person-centered approach. Each individual has their own capacity and power to improve and it is my purpose to assist in that journey. I have applied this approach in my own life with the support of a counselor and have found that clients have more capacity for change than they realize.
