I believe talk therapy is a power tool. It can heal. It can empower. It can bring about the kind of changes you seek. In order for talk therapy to really work, you must feel connected to and trust the therapist you work with so I encourage you to find the right fit. We will start where you are and, together, we will explore new ways of making your life more manageable. To struggle is to be part of the human experience. Struggle can be a motivator for change. Those self-defeating thoughts are not who you are. These life circumstances do not have to define your whole life.
Clients will get an idea of my approach to therapy. The first session is also a time for me to get an idea of what the client is struggling with and together we will come up with treatment goals.
Clients can expect me to be warm, respectful and empathetic to their life circumstances and struggles. Together, we will collaborate on counseling goals and I will offer direct yet compassionate feedback. I will offer psycho educational information as it pertains to their struggles.
The relationship between client and therapist informs me as the therapist about where the client is struggling and where to go in the therapeutic process. This relationship can provide the client with a healthy dynamic. My approach to counseling is warm yet direct when it comes to feedback and psycho-education.
