I am a graduate of ASU’s nationally accredited Master of Counseling program and completed my doctoral studies in Educational Leadership at Trident University. With over 17 years of experience, I use a holistic, whole-health approach to treatment. This means addressing mental, physical, and social challenges in your life, including diet, exercise, sleep, safety, housing, employment, enjoyment, and purpose. I keep my sessions clinical and casual, so it feels like we are just talking rather than in a old-time doctor's office.
My name is Amber. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio. My role is to empower you on this journey of self-actualization. I bring authenticity, warmth, and a solution-oriented approach. We will be working side by side to identify your goals, values, and strengths. From there, we will process past experiences to help you move on to becoming your best self. I have been helping clients achieve their goals for the past several years. These clients range from the age of one-year-old to over fifty-years-old. About 60% of my clients are 12 and under. In working with younger children, I have had the most success using telehealth when parents are present to monitor, arrange a predictable environment, and assist with any technical issues. In working with younger children, the parents’ role is vital. I work as a team with parents and caregivers to build a healthy relationship and find the appropriate strengths-based parenting strategies for the child. Recommended parenting techniques are largely based on the Conscious Discipline model which encourages mindful parenting. With younger children, the parents’ cooperation is imperative to reach desired behavioral goals. I also draw from the approaches outlined in Working with Challenging Youth by Brent Richardson, Ed.D.
As a dedicated therapist, I provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where you can explore challenges and develop the tools necessary for lasting change. My approach is collaborative and evidence-based, focusing on your unique strengths to help you navigate life’s transitions, improve your relationships, and enhance your overall well-being. Whether you are seeking relief from anxiety, depression, or a deeper understanding of yourself, I am here to support you in achieving your personal goals.
My role isn’t to steer your life for you, but to sit alongside you as a steady and supportive presence. I’m here to offer insight, perspective, and tools when they’re helpful, always in service of what matters most to you. My goal is to first explore what healing looks like for you, as it is different for everyone. I specialize in supporting individuals experiencing OCD, maladaptive perfectionism, anxiety, trauma, grief, and chronic illness.

I have had the good fortune to work for several types of agencies during that time and have experience with severe, persistent mental illness as a result of my time working for an inpatient psychiatric unit as well as experience working as a therapist in community mental health. I am currently working with adults aged 18 and up. I have been successfully treating first responders, military personnel, and survivors of domestic violence and child abuse.
I am a trauma survivor who is also the mother of two amazing children on the Autism Spectrum. As a result of these two circumstances, I have spent time on the other side of the therapeutic relationship and became a therapist to pay back the time and attention that was given to me while my family was needing healing and support.
I have specialized training in EMDR treatment and certification for personality disorder treatment. I utilize a very directive approach to treatment and encourage the client to guide their treatment so it is a joint process where they can feel empowered.

Hello ! Welcome to the exploration of the benefits of therapy. This may be your first time trying out this experience, or you may have worked with other clinicians in the past. People often think of therapy as scary; a luxury; an unnecessary expense and/or use of time; no better than talking to friends and loved ones; to be sought out only if things get really BAD. But in the decades I have been working as a psychotherapist with people just like you - they have found, as I hope you will, that it is a dynamic opportunity to start addressing the needs of the most important resource you have - YOU ! And YES, starting with someone new is scary, and sometimes anxiety-producing. I applaud you for taking this step.
Therapy is an educational process in which you are learning about you. I follow the pace of the client and can say that each person's journey to healing is different. I may have a compass to guide the process, but you are rowing the boat. There can be hard work on this exploration !
My experience as a therapist began in New York City, working in the field of domestic violence as a therapist and advocate. Living in New York City at that time, I had the opportunity and honor to work with people of various nationalities and cultures. I completed my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology at New Mexico State University in 2000. I worked for, and directed, several community- based , not for profit agencies before I took the plunge to start my own business in 2005. I was in private practice off an on for 20 years, and since that time I have worked as a contractor in many capacities, with diverse populations.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience supporting individuals
through life’s challenges with compassion, respect, and practical guidance. I work with adults
facing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and the emotional
impact of trauma. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, creating a safe,
nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and supported.
I believe therapy should be both meaningful and useful—helping you better understand yourself
while building skills you can apply in everyday life. I draw from evidence-based practices and
tailor treatment to each person’s unique needs, values, and goals. Whether you are seeking
clarity, healing, or tools to move forward, I partner with you to support lasting growth and
emotional well-being.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, and you don’t have to do it alone. I
would be honored to work with you on your journey toward greater balance, insight, and
resilience.
Have you experienced life events that have left you with flashbacks, trouble sleeping, intrusive memories, or emotional triggers that disrupt your daily life? Trauma can leave lasting effects on both the mind and body, making it difficult to cope or feel like yourself again. You may find yourself longing for hope and a return to more stable daily functioning, yet feeling overwhelmed by the impact of what you’ve been through. These experiences can stem from accidents, abuse, disasters, or even the demands of intense occupational roles, and can often leave you feeling isolated and alone. I offer nearly four years of trauma-informed counseling experience, with a background in both community mental health and residential psychiatric care. In our sessions, we will focus on understanding how trauma impacts your daily functioning while building practical skills to support effective coping. My approach is trauma-informed and person-centered.

I understand how overwhelming it can feel to reach out for help, and I want to support that first courageous step. I am a husband, and a father to three grown children. I have led youth groups with middle school and high schoolers. My wife and I have been through the foster care process and then adopted. I am familiar with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). I do not treat RAD but I do support parents and caregivers of children with this diagnosis. I worked as a counselor for ten years prior to licensure listening to people sharing their pain and challenges. After licensure I worked as a medical social worker with patients and family members of chronically ill before becoming a therapist.
