New to Grow
I am a counselor with experience supporting people facing challenges with mental health, addiction, and dual-diagnosis concerns. I believe that everyone’s journey is unique, so I use a mix of proven therapy approaches to help each person find what works best for them. Whether someone is looking for support with life changes, managing symptoms, or building new skills, I am here to listen and offer guidance in a safe, accepting space. My goal is to help clients discover their strengths and work together toward achieving their personal goals and objectives.
During your first session, our main focus will be on getting to know each other and beginning to build a foundation of trust and understanding. I’ll spend time explaining the counseling process, answering any questions you might have, and discussing what brought you to therapy. We’ll start with some assessment questions to better understand your history, current concerns, and goals for counseling. These questions may touch on your background, mental health and/or addiction history, relationships, strengths, and challenges. This part of the session is collaborative—your input is valued at every step. Rapport building is important to me, so I’ll invite you to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. You’ll have space to talk about what you hope to gain from therapy and any specific topics or issues that matter most to you. My goal in the first session is to help you feel safe and heard, to learn about your unique story, and to begin working together toward the changes and healing you desire.
As a counselor, I am committed to providing an authentic and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel truly seen and understood. I believe in focusing on each client’s strengths, empowering them to recognize and build upon their unique abilities and resources. While I offer encouragement and empathy, I am also willing to challenge clients to take steps toward meaningful change, helping them move beyond comfort zones when it serves their growth. I strive to help clients recognize when their actions or choices are not aligned with their true wants, needs, and desires, supporting them in exploring what truly matters to them. Together, we will work to foster greater self-awareness, resilience, and positive transformation.
My ideal client is an adult who is motivated and ready to make meaningful changes in their life. They may have a history of addiction, mental health challenges, or both, and are seeking a safe, supportive space to address these issues. This client is open to feedback, values personal growth, and is willing to engage in therapeutic work, including the exploration and processing of past traumas. Together, we will collaborate to identify goals, build on strengths, and develop healthier coping strategies, fostering growth and lasting positive change.
In my practice, I use a variety of therapy approaches, and together we figure out what works best for each person. Sometimes I use solution-focused therapy, which means we look at your strengths and what’s working—then set small, concrete goals to move forward. With DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), I share practical skills for managing tough emotions, staying calm in stressful moments, and building stronger relationships. These are especially helpful if you’re feeling overwhelmed or out of control. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) helps people learn ways to accept difficult thoughts and feelings, focus on what matters most to them, and move toward personal goals, even when life feels tough. If you ever feel stuck or unsure about making changes, I use Motivational Interviewing to help you uncover your own reasons for growth and support you at every step. For those processing trauma or painful memories, I offer EMDR, which can make those memories less distressing and help you feel more at peace. Sometimes, it’s meaningful to talk about life’s bigger questions—like finding your purpose or coping with change—and that’s when existential therapy can be useful, helping you explore meaning and what’s important to you. Overall, I’m here to meet you where you are, and together we decide which techniques feel the most comfortable and helpful for your current needs. Each person’s journey is different, so I always personalize therapy to fit your unique goals and strengths.
