New to Grow
I am an African American female with a strong educational and professional foundation in both mental health and business. I earned a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from South University and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Cleveland State University. My combined educational background and life experience have shaped my understanding of human behavior, emotional triggers, coping mechanisms, and the importance of healthy boundaries. I am committed to helping individuals feel seen, heard, and understood while supporting them in developing practical tools for emotional and personal growth.
In the first counseling session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where you are encouraged to share your concerns, expectations, and personal goals for therapy. This session provides an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process. The intake process will be reviewed, including relevant background information to better understand your needs. I will also explain the typical structure, length, and flow of future sessions so the you knows what to expect moving forward. Additionally, time will be spent discussing what brought you to counseling, helping to clarify your current challenges and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. This initial session lays the foundation for a collaborative and trusting counseling relationship.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my commitment to meeting each client exactly where they are with compassion, honesty, and intentional care. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, and I always prioritize what is best for the client’s growth, healing, and overall well-being. I encourage clients to see this space as one of the few places where they can fully focus on themselves—sometimes even being “selfish” in a healthy way—by openly expressing their thoughts, needs, and emotions without judgment. This openness allows for authentic healing work to take place. My approach integrates empathy, active listening, and practical strategies that support real-life change. I help clients identify patterns, understand triggers, and build healthier coping skills while also strengthening boundaries. My goal is to ensure clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to take ownership of their healing journey.
I work best with clients who are 16 years of age and older, including adolescents, young adults, and adults of all ages. I am equipped to serve both male and female clients across diverse life stages and presenting concerns. I provide counseling and supportive services to individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, cultural background, religion, disability status, or socioeconomic background. I am committed to providing care in a respectful, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive manner that honors each person’s lived experience. I strive to maintain a counseling environment guided by the principle of “do no harm,” ethical responsibility, and professional integrity, ensuring that each client receives appropriate care within the scope of my training and competence. When a client presents with needs outside of my scope of practice or clinical competency, I am committed to providing appropriate referrals to ensure they receive the most suitable level of care.
