Hi, I’m Shakira Maldonado, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and Florida. I support adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My work is rooted in helping clients reconnect with themselves, gain clarity, and build a life that feels more grounded, empowered, and aligned with who they truly are.
I offer a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive approach to therapy. No two people are the same, which is why I tailor each session to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based practices like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and somatic techniques to help you explore the root of your struggles and move toward healing in a way that feels meaningful and manageable.
Many of the individuals I work with come to me feeling emotionally stuck — whether that’s in their personal life, their career, or their relationships. You might find yourself constantly overthinking, struggling to set boundaries, or repeating cycles that leave you feeling defeated. In our work together, we’ll explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, not judgment.
I also support clients navigating grief, childhood wounds, family dynamics, identity issues, and burnout. If you're someone who has always felt the need to "hold it all together" for others, therapy can be the space where you finally get to be held.
Whether you’re new to therapy or returning after time away, you’re welcome here. My goal is to help you feel more connected — to yourself, your values, and the life you want to build. Healing is not a straight line, but you don’t have to walk it alone. I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and Florida. I have 30 years experience in the helping profession and 7 years as a therapist. I believe that insight without action leads to stagnation and frustration. It is valuable to talk about problems and issues but without a plan of action, clients become discouraged. Much of my work will involve identifying a next right step in addressing problems.
I work remotely with clients in New York, New Jersey & North Carolina. Oftentimes, even the strongest and most resilient need a helping hand. If you're feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, angry, sad or simply feeling unlike yourself, maybe it's time you take the hand of someone else to help get you back to feeling like yourself again. Therapy can be intimidating, time consuming and even scary however I promise it is the best investment you can ever make in yourself.
Hey there! If your negative thought loops or emotions have impacted your life in some way, I'm here to remind you that you're certainly not alone - you're human. I view therapy as a chance to improve the thinking patterns that cause you to feel anxious or depressed, and keep you down for longer than feels healthy. My aim is to help confront these problem areas and then construct goals that ultimately bring about healthy change!

Hello, I am Dr. Young.
Life is full of colors. Light or dark, each has its unique quality. The secret to becoming successful in playing the game of life is to change from the inside out.
We live to move forward, and it requires us to be more and do more. Resilience is an innate human capacity. In my view, everyone is capable of self-healing given the proper guidance and provided with supportive conditions. With a cultivated healthy sense of self, solutions appear with the clarity to think about what you desire in life, not what you cannot or don't have.
In tough water, even good swimmers might struggle. If you have dreams and hopes, I can help you to pick up new skills going through the waves of life. Let's work together!
