I also work extensively with individuals experiencing major life transitions, helping them navigate the stressors associated with change, including uncertainty, instability, and shifts in identity or roles. Through a collaborative and strengths based approach, I assist clients in building resilience, increasing emotional well being, and fostering personal growth during challenging periods. As a Christian Counselor, faith is a foundational element, providing hope, meaning, and a moral compass in the therapeutic journey. Clinically, I integrate evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge unhelpful thought patterns, alongside psychodynamic techniques to explore how past experiences and relationships shape present struggles. I am a licensed mental health therapist with many years of experience providing therapy to individuals, adolescents, groups, and occasionally couples in various settings. My experience has led me to connect with many individuals at different phases in their lives who wanted to change something but didn't know how. I have worked with various populations from so many backgrounds, and all that stuck out to me was the disfranchised. A person losing their sense of autonomy and self always left me with that question, "Can I do more?" Hello, my name is Dr. Yvette Sabater-Lenk, I am a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience working with children, teens, and adults who face challenges related to behavioral difficulties, emotional dysregulation, developmental disabilities, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. I also work with individuals navigating the complexities of borderline personality traits, trauma, and interpersonal challenges. My approach is grounded in a collaborative, strengths-based philosophy. I believe that every client has the capacity for growth and resilience, and therapy is most effective when it is tailored to the unique needs, goals, and experiences of each individual. I integrate evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), solution-focused strategies, mindfulness practices, and creative interventions such as art and music therapy. My work emphasizes skill-building, emotional regulation, and self-awareness to empower clients to navigate challenges both in and outside of therapy. When beginning with a new client, I prioritize building trust and creating a safe, supportive space. We start by exploring their goals, experiences, and current challenges, and I work with the client to develop a personalized treatment plan. I encourage active collaboration, open communication, and regular check-ins to ensure that therapy is meaningful, relevant, and effective. My goal is to help the client develop coping strategies, strengthen resilience, and achieve the personal growth they seek.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by New York rather than a city like New York City?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in New York. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across New York from Buffalo to Rochester! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in New York.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
