I’m Keshia Carr, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor offering warm, down to earth telehealth therapy across New York for children, teens, young adults, families, and older adults.

I don’t just listen; I help you understand what’s going on and give you easy to use tools you can bring into your everyday life, explained in a way that actually makes sense.

My practice is a judgment free space to work through anxiety, ADHD, autism related challenges, family conflict, school stress, and life transitions, whether you’re breaking old patterns, learning to communicate in new ways, setting boundaries, or just need room to breathe. I keep sessions real and relatable, often with a laugh or two, because I believe meaningful change happens when you feel truly comfortable. If you’re ready for someone in your corner, I’d love to help you take that first step.

First session

Our first session is all about getting to know each other, so there’s no pressure to have the perfect words or share everything at once. We’ll start by talking about what brought you in, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope will feel different in your life. I’ll ask some questions to understand your background, your strengths, and what support looks like for you, and you’re always welcome to ask me anything about how therapy works. Together, we’ll begin to shape goals that feel meaningful and realistic, so you leave with a clear sense of where we’re headed. Most of all, I want you to walk away feeling heard, comfortable, and hopeful that change is possible. For children and teens, parents or caregivers are part of the conversation too, so everyone feels included and on the same page from the start.

Strengths

What makes my approach different is that I blend the heart of a counselor with the skills of a teacher. I don’t just listen; I help you understand what’s going on and give you easy to use tools you can bring into your everyday life, explained in a way that actually makes sense. My style is warm, down to earth, and real, so sessions feel more like a genuine conversation than a clinical appointment, and laughter is always welcome. I meet every client where they are, honoring their culture, family, and lived experience, and I move at a pace that feels right for them. Whether I’m working with a child, a teen, a family, or an adult navigating a big life change, my goal is for you to leave each session feeling understood, more confident, and equipped to keep growing.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for something to change, even if they’re not sure where to start. You might be a parent watching your child struggle with anxiety, ADHD, autism related challenges, or school stress and wanting the whole family to feel more at peace. You might be a teen or young adult figuring out who you are, or an adult navigating a breakup, a move, a new job, being single, or a later life transition that has shaken your sense of balance. Maybe you’re tired of repeating the same patterns you grew up with and want to break the cycle, set healthier boundaries, or finally learn how to say what you feel. You don’t need to have it all figured out. If you’re open to honest conversation, willing to try new tools, and ready to invest in yourself or your family, we’ll do great work together.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions, and how small shifts in one area can create real change in the others. Together, we’ll notice the negative or unhelpful thoughts that tend to show up, like “I always mess things up” or “Nobody likes me,” and practice looking at them in a more realistic way.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

Instead of only looking at what’s going wrong, I help you focus on your strengths, what’s already working, and what you want your life to look like. We set clear, meaningful goals and take practical steps toward them, which works especially well for life transitions and everyday stressors.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I create a warm, judgment free space where you can show up exactly as you are and feel truly heard. I follow your lead, honoring your experiences, culture, and pace, because I believe you’re the expert on your own life and growth begins when you feel accepted.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I teach simple, easy to use mindfulness skills like grounding, breathing, and noticing thoughts without judgment to help you calm anxiety and get out of your head. I adapt these tools for children, teens, and adults so they fit naturally into daily life at home, school, or work.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I help families understand how each person’s patterns, roles, and communication styles affect the whole household. Together, we work on breaking generational cycles, setting healthy boundaries, and building stronger, more understanding connections at home.
