I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with extensive experience supporting individuals across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, couples, families, and older adults. I specialize in helping clients who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, and life transitions, and who are seeking both relief and deeper understanding of themselves.
Clients often describe me as warm, grounded, and easy to talk to, while also thoughtful and direct when helping them identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, with a strong focus on helping clients feel emotionally safe while also gently encouraging insight, reflection, and meaningful change.
In my work, I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, trauma-informed care, and psychodynamic principles. This allows me to support both present-day symptom relief and deeper exploration of long-standing emotional and relational patterns.
My clinical background includes many years of work in community mental health in New York City, where I provided care to diverse and underserved populations. I also have experience in inpatient psychiatric settings supporting individuals during acute crises, as well as involvement in psychiatric research, which strengthened my foundation in evidence-based and clinically grounded care.
At the core of my work is the belief that people are not defined by their symptoms or their past experiences. Instead, therapy is a space to better understand yourself, shift long-standing patterns, and build a more grounded, connected and intentional life.
I provide counseling for children, teens, and young adults in a supportive, collaborative environment where clients feel safe, heard, and understood. My approach is strengths-based, developmentally appropriate, and sensitive to past experiences. In therapy, I help clients build emotional awareness, coping skills, and confidence so they can better manage stress, big emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges. My goal is to support meaningful, lasting change by giving clients practical tools they can use in real life.
In addition to counseling, I offer comprehensive psychological evaluations to help families better understand concerns related to attention and focus (ADHD), autism, learning differences, emotional regulation, anxiety, mood challenges, and executive functioning skills such as organization and self-control. These evaluations are thorough but easy to understand and highlight both strengths and areas needing support. When appropriate, I provide clear diagnoses along with practical, individualized recommendations that families and schools can use right away.

I work to create a space where you feel seen, understood, and safe enough to explore what’s really going on. I ask thoughtful, direct questions with curiosity and care. I predominantly work with young men struggling with social anxiety disorder. Do you struggle with social anxiety and poor self-confidence? I know that overcoming it is possible! Many come to therapy for social anxiety because of childhood trauma and how it has manifested in their adult lives. Often this manifests in feelings of poor self-confidence, poor self-worth, and poor self-confidence. At its root, the fundamental belief of those who have social anxiety is the belief, “I am not enough.” Clients get into the habit of comparing themselves to others and it makes them feel inadequate and insecure. Over time clients begin to avoid situations that elicit their anxiety, particularly social situations. This can lead to social isolation and loneliness. Clients will present with complaints of frequent panic attacks, not having a romantic partner, not having friends, not being happy in their jobs and feeling disconnected from life. They are labeled by others as shy, quiet, or introverted. This scenario described myself for much of my life which gives me lived experience to better able to assist you. I help individuals combat their social fears and begin to live a rich and fulfilling life. I do this through cognitive behavioral therapy techniques primarily but also integrate solution-focused therapy, assertiveness training, exposure therapy, and acceptance & commitment therapy. Whether you're a teen struggling to make friends and socialize or you are an adult unable to speak up at work meetings or unable to ask someone out on a date, I'm here for you! Seeking therapy can be frightening but I want to assure you that you will be most welcome if you take that leap of faith!

I've tried to live my life by the word "YES", which I wrote on the rear of my VW van in the 70's. As I've aged this has shown me the way through many difficulties. I studied Psychology in the 70's, eventually leaving doctoral work to open a Stained Glass studio and eventually obtained a second MA degree in Social Work. leading to my work here. Along the way I've garnered many different paths of therapeutic work and learned how to use them to fit the clients I work with.
Providing therapy, being a listener and helping others in essence found me. I did not initially plan to become a therapist but I am so happy and proud I did.
I receive joy from being able to find the right words and work through the issue with my client.
Therapy is a very important tool, whether it is intensive treatment or being a supportive ear.
I have worked in the helping field for over 20 years. Beginning my career with developmentally delayed, then preventive services, foster care, Autism spectrum and currently providing child and adult psychiatric services. I enjoy the reward of helping!
