I’m Christine Cain, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York with more than a decade of experience supporting children, families, and adults through life’s challenges. I am also a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) candidate at Simmons University, which further strengthens my commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and a Strengths-Based Perspective—approaches that help you gain clarity, manage stress, and feel more in control of your life. My goal is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace. Together, we’ll work toward building resilience, restoring balance, and enhancing your overall well-being. You deserve to feel heard, supported, and empowered. Whenever you’re ready, I’m here to take that first step with you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to get a feel for whether this space feels like a good fit. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to work on, and any current concerns or stressors you may be experiencing. I will also ask some background questions to better understand your experiences, supports, and goals. The session is paced with care and guided by your comfort level. There is no pressure to share everything at once. You can ask questions, clarify expectations, and let me know what feels helpful or challenging. My role is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and understood. By the end of the session, we will begin identifying initial goals and next steps, and I will share how we can work together moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths are listening closely, creating a safe and supportive space, and adapting my approach to fit each client’s unique needs. I combine evidence-based methods like CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients understand patterns in their thoughts and behaviors, build practical coping skills, and work toward goals that matter to them. My focus is on empowering clients to recognize their strengths and make meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are ready to better understand themselves and are open to doing thoughtful, meaningful work in therapy. Many of my clients come in feeling overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, or emotionally stuck, often while carrying a lot for others. You may be navigating life transitions, relationship stress, work related pressure, or the lasting effects of trauma, and you are looking for a space that feels safe, supportive, and genuine. I am especially well suited to work with adults who identify as helpers, caregivers, professionals, or leaders who are used to showing up for everyone else but struggle to make space for their own needs. In our work together, we focus on building insight, strengthening coping skills, improving boundaries, and creating more balance and clarity in your life. I work from a culturally responsive and trauma informed lens, which means we acknowledge how identity, culture, race, and lived experiences shape mental health. If you are looking for a therapist who will meet you with warmth, honesty, and respect while also helping you move toward real, sustainable change, you may be a good fit for my practice.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. It focuses on noticing unhelpful patterns and learning practical skills to manage stress, emotions, and everyday challenges. CBT is collaborative and hands-on, giving clients tools they can use to feel more balanced and supported in their daily lives.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a supportive, conversational approach that helps clients explore their goals and build confidence in making changes. In my work, I use MI by creating a non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about what you want and what feels challenging. I ask guided, reflective questions to help you sort through mixed feelings and connect with your own motivation. My role is to walk alongside you—supporting, encouraging, and helping you move toward the changes that feel right for you.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is all about helping clients identify their strengths and build practical steps toward the changes they want to see. In my work, I use SFBT by focusing on what’s already working in your life and exploring small, achievable goals that move you forward. Together, we look at your resources, highlight your progress, and create clear, realistic solutions. It’s a positive, future-focused approach designed to help you feel empowered and supported as you make meaningful change.
