I am a licensed mental health counselor. I have been in the field for 11 years. I have worked with high risk populations, inpatient as well as community mental health. Because of my work and personal experiences, I have found that the best technique is to meet people where they are currently in life. Therapy can be intimidating. It is important to me to build a rapport so that we can successful meet your treatment goals. I specialize in working with those who suffer from Anxiety, Depression Bipolar Disorder and Trauma.
In the first session, clients can expect the rapport building to begin. This is the time to ask questions, get clarity and voice any concerns that they may have about my therapeutic approach and or the therapeutic process. Using a collaborative approach, we will come up your goals and how I plan to assist you in meeting those goals.
My greatest strengths as a provider are, being upfront and honest. I utilize language in which my clients can understand as therapy in its self can be challenging enough. I am warm and empathetic and I encourage clients to be themselves without judgement.
I utilize CBT to help challenge old/current ways of thinking, by introducing new ways to look at symptoms and daily stressors.
I utilize EMDR to assist clients in working through traumatic experiences, that continue to have a negative impact on their mental, emotional and physical health.
Parts work or Internal Family Systems is one of my favorite treatment methods. I believe that it helps clients get a deeper understanding as to what certain emotions, behaviors, physical sensations are trying get us to pay attention too. I introduce my clients to this process pretty early on. I find It beneficial in helping them to understand underlying emotions that are being suppressed and in turn making symptoms feel worse than they need to.
