Hi there! I am so glad that you have decided that it is time to reach out for help! My name is Deborah Gipple and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Florida and have been practicing for 22+ years. I help adults heal from childhood trauma through education about how trauma affects us and our relationships, examining feelings and attitudes, sensitivies, and suggesting action exercises that help them move toward self-compassion. As my clients heal, they begin to feel safe, confident, and at peace in their own minds and bodies. I know that it takes courage to enter therapy, especially if this is the first time you have worked with a therapist. And that is why it is so important to me to create a warm and relaxing space in which you will feel safe to speak freely about all that is most important to you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session together will begin with introductions and a few light questions to help you feel comfortable talking with me. When we feel that we are in tune with each other, I will ask you about the issues that motivated you to enter therapy. After you have related an issue, I will want to know if you have made any efforts to remedy that issue. You will leave our first session with a few things that you are willing to do toward decreasing mental and emotional pain. At the end of the session, you will decide if you want to continue therapy with me.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The advantages I offer my clients as their therapist are that I have years of experience and am trained in a variety of treatment modalities which I can combine and tailor to fit your needs. I consider the holistic dynamic of a human being and, during the course of our work together, address each---mind, body, and spirit . I am a good listener and have a good memory. I explain concepts simply and clearly. I am compassionate and I have a very good sense of humor.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

A negative self-image, a pattern of negative self-talk, feelings of "not being good enough", feeling unworthy of love and happiness, self-sabotaging behaviors, people-pleasing, feeling inappropriate guilt, or just feeling "lost" and "different" from others are often a few of the symptoms that are related to unresolved past trauma. For many years, I have helped my clients explore their past experiences, identify the source(s) of the feelings and behaviors that have been interfering with maintaining satisfying relationships and life satisfaction. Then, together, my client and I develop a customized action plan of daily steps to take that will lead to a positive change in their perception of themselves. When we change, the world changes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for many years to help my clients examine the connection between various events and their perception of those events. I guide my clients in questioning the connection between the automatic thoughts and the behaviors, emotions, and/or sensations that they associate with the event. It has been my experience that my clients will naturally want to resolve a pattern of thought, physical feeling, or emotion related to a perception in which they feel "stuck". Together, we examine the problem area and develop an action plan that allows my client to diminish the block and move forward in their personal development and experience of life.

Adlerian

I have used Adlerian Therapy along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to establish a therapeutic relationship, encourage and emphasize my client's efforts toward reaching their goals, connecting with others, and getting involved with social activities that give them personal satisfaction.
