Hi, I’m Shelby — a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over six years of experience supporting teens and adults through life’s most difficult moments. I specialize in working with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and identity exploration, with a special focus on, LGBTQ+ affirming care and support for first responders and military personnel . My approach to therapy is eclectic, person-centered, and proactive. I don’t just listen — I actively engage with you in the process by offering feedback, suggestions, and practical tools to support your growth outside of sessions. That often includes personalized homework or exercises to help you apply what we’re working on in real life. I draw from a wide range of evidence-based methods, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and more — always tailored to your unique needs and goals. I offer both morning, evening and Saturday appointments to make therapy more accessible, and all sessions are held virtually for your convenience and privacy. I became a therapist because I care deeply about being a supportive, steady presence for those who are struggling. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for a space to be heard and supported, I’m here to walk alongside you on your path to healing and growth.
Our first session is all about getting to know you — your story, your goals, and what brought you to therapy. I’ll start by creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you can feel safe to share at your own pace. We’ll talk about what’s been going on in your life, what you’re hoping to work on, and any questions or concerns you have about therapy. I’ll ask some guiding questions to better understand your background and what support might be most helpful for you. Because I take an eclectic and proactive approach, I’ll begin tailoring our work from the start — offering reflections, asking thoughtful questions, and, if it feels appropriate, introducing some initial strategies or suggestions you can try between sessions. You can also expect to leave with a sense of direction and next steps, whether that’s a bit of "homework," a mindfulness tool, or simply something to reflect on. Most importantly, this session is a collaborative conversation. I want to understand what’s important to you and make sure therapy feels supportive, affirming, and effective. You're not just talking — you're actively partnering with someone who’s here to help you heal, grow, and move forward.
What stands out about my approach is that I’m both compassionate and active in the therapy room. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model — instead, I take an eclectic, client-centered approach that draws from a variety of evidence-based techniques to meet your unique needs. That might mean incorporating mindfulness, trauma-informed strategies, CBT tools, or exploring your values through ACT — all depending on what works best for you. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I’m not just a passive listener. I’m engaged, I give honest feedback, and I offer practical suggestions and homework that help you apply what we discuss in real life. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, identity concerns, grief, trauma, or a major life transition, I bring both warmth and direction to the process. Therapy with me is a space where you can feel seen, affirmed, and challenged — a place where healing can begin and growth can happen. My goal is always to help you feel more empowered, grounded, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges with clarity and resilience.
Is this you? You’re doing your best to keep it together, but inside, it feels like too much. Maybe you're navigating a major life change, struggling with anxiety or depression, carrying the weight of trauma or grief, or trying to better understand who you are — especially if you're part of the LGBTQ+ community or working in a high-stress profession like first response and military personnel. You might feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted. You want support, but not just someone who nods and listens — you want a therapist who will show up fully, give you feedback, offer suggestions, and help you make real progress. You value honesty, compassion, and someone who will meet you where you are, but gently challenge you to grow. You're ready for a space that’s inclusive, affirming, and tailored to you. If this sounds like you, you’re in the right place — and I’d be honored to support you.
For the past six years, I have utilized an eclectic approach to therapy — a flexible, integrative style that draws from a range of evidence-based techniques to tailor treatment to each individual. Rather than adhering to a single theoretical framework, eclectic therapy allows me to adapt my approach to best meet the unique needs, goals, and cultural backgrounds of my clients. My clinical training spans multiple modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy, Culturally Sensitive Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Gender-Affirming Care, Grief Therapy, Mindfulness-Based approaches, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Psychoeducation, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Supportive Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care.
