Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC). I am licensed in both Mississippi and North Carolina. I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Mississippi College in 2018. The expansion of telehealth services allows me to work with clients living in MS and NC. I have past experience leading a support group in a faith-based setting and as a counselor for adults at an inpatient mental health facility. Today, I work in private practice helping adults struggling with anxiety, trauma, or emotional unrest gain a sense of calm and the ability to manage their emotions.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Beginning counseling can be a scary experience. For our first session together, I use a very structured approach. I will walk you through a series of questions which will give me the insight needed to create an individualized treatment plan while helping you tell your story of what has brought you to the counseling space. I will give you space to ask me any questions you may have. At the end of this first session, we will have a good idea of things to work on in future sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have been told by many clients that I bring a calmness to the therapy space. This is a great strength, especially for clients who do not experience calm very often. This calmness comes doing my own work with mindfulness techniques. My faith also brings a layer of calm to my life. I believe that this sense of calmness helps me to hear my clients better and gives me an insight into their emotional struggles. Another strength of mine is that I love to learn and I am always trying to broaden and improve my skills by reading or taking additional coursework. This makes me a better counselor.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Are you feeling emotionally overwhelmed or numb? My clients often have difficulty identifying their feelings beyond good or bad. They may even stuff their emotions to the point that they now feel emotionally numb. They are willing to try some new ways of coping because they are beginning to recognize that the way they have been handling emotions just isn't working anymore. I focus on helping my clients learn to notice and identify their emotions. Once you can name your emotions, then you can begin to learn how to live a healthy life with good emotional responses.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness therapy is used to help you notice your emotionally and mental reactions to stressors in the present. We can work on past events by noticing your reactions to current stressors. Mindfulness techniques are also powerful coping skills that allow you to decrease anxiousness and increase a sense of calm.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy can help you shift your perspective about yourself and the world around you. This frequently involves introducing a different way to think about things and to challenge unhealthy or unhelpful ways of thinking.

Christian Counseling

In my practice, Christian counseling is based upon the idea that faith is a personal strength which you can lean on. I have past experience serving in a Christian setting and this experience can be brought into my current practice for those who are looking for a faith perspective but are more comfortable speaking with a therapist outside of a church setting.
