(she/her)
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) seeing clients in North Carolina statewide via virtual visits. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, setting boundaries, dating in the digital era, confidence, and eating disorders. Whether, you have a small circle of friends, dealing with transitional changes in life, depression, loneliness, or even really crappy Hinge dates. You deserve to invest in your self-care and curate the most fulfilling life for yourself. If any of this speaks to you I encourage you to reach out today.
Our first session is where we start to build rapport and spend time talking in more detail about recent stressors and/or what you would like to get from therapy. I find it very important to know not just your problems but also your interests, hobbies, and people who are important to your world. I strive for it to feel more comfortable and conversational to the client.
My greatest strength as a provider is the ability to build a rapport with my clients. Therapy can be very vulnerable and I believe my personable, calm, direct, and supportive communication style helps create openness with my clients. I value my clients feeling heard, understood, and comfortable during our sessions.
At times we may feel that there’s no one that can understand us or fear not looking like the “strong” friend. We struggle to talk about our emotions and often wear masks out of the belief that nothing will change. Do you struggle to take up space in conversations or in a room due to lack of confidence? Or constant feelings of inadequacy due to struggles in managing high expectations placed upon you? Have you struggled with self-love and the intense demands/pressures society has placed on you physically, professionally, socially etc? Are you wanting to create a full life irregardless of a number on the scale? I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for those who may identify as internalizers and struggle with confidence, a loud inner critic, people-pleasing, and taking up space. This may manifest as anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and high levels of stress. I help my clients get to the core of their triggers and support them in navigating how to curate a life that feels fulfilling to them.
CBT helps you recognize how your thoughts, behaviors and feelings influence each other, with that knowledge it can increase your ability to curate the most fulfilling and meaningful life for yourself and let go of what's no longer serving you.
Often times experiences from earlier relationships will shape patterns and perceptions of current relationships. Working to understand where certain beliefs originated can help to validate your own experiences and help enhance insight.
I operate heavily within a trauma informed framework. It’s never “what’s wrong with you”? and always “what happened to you”? Your lived experiences matter and should be taken into consideration when learning to understand your emotions and behaviors.
