I am Dr. Daniel Maurer and have practiced as a psychologist since 2011. I worked in traditional outpatient behavioral health, correctional settings and military hospitals. I work with individuals between the ages 6-100. I have 3 basic tenets when providing therapy. (1) Techniques should be practical and portable, typically only taking 1-5 minutes to implement. (2) I respect patient agency. Setting treatment goals and determining a treatment modality is a collaborative process. (3) The goal of therapy is to not attend therapy. I am focused on providing the patient with the skills, techniques and ability to function on their own without the need to come to therapy. My treatment approach is always based within evidence based treatments, but default to using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) treatment modalities

Hi, I'm Jennifer. Do you sometimes feel stuck? Struggle with beliefs that maybe are getting in the way of you living your life to the fullest? Have you experienced a significant trauma? Are you struggling with daily life stressors? Are you looking for a therapist to help you develop boundaries? We can work together to develop strategies to improve balance in your life. Engaging in therapy can be an intimidating process. I help patients process trauma, changes in cognitive processing, as well as difficulties in daily relationships. A new diagnosis can be hard to process and can feel overwhelming. I work with patients to help identify strengths as well as opportunities for improvement. I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to address trauma, modifying as needed to meet individual needs. We'll utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, adjusting as needed to help you feel comfortable and build confidence in yourself. I'll meet you with compassion as well as evidence-based techniques so that you can build skills to help you through life's ups and downs. I appreciate your consideration. I look forward to working with you.

I believe people possess all the knowledge and skills to overcome their mental health challenges, but sometimes need an ally to uncover these strengths. I chose to work in the behavioral health field because I have benefited from a strong support system to help me overcome my own struggles in the past. In my practice, I incorporate motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy to help people uncover their strengths.

Hello, I am a licensed professional therapist in North Carolina. My experience has centered on working with diverse populations, from military-affiliated, college, and community behavioral health and private practice. Working within these settings has allowed my involvement with various ages, genders, cultures, and life experiences. My theoretical orientation is Constructivism; therefore, I need to understand my client's life perspectives and how that has influenced their worldview. In working with clients, I also practice an integrated approach using constructivism, person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, solution-focused therapies, and others. Person-centered focuses on the client and allows the client to process feelings and thoughts in a non-judgmental environment with unconditional positive regard. Cognitive-behavioral therapy focuses on the role of thinking in the process of influencing a person's feelings of well-being and how controlling thoughts can affect mental health. This approach maintains the link between emotions and behaviors in the cognitive process. The humanistic therapeutic method emphasizes the counseling relationship and the importance of quality, genuineness, positive regard, and empathy in the counseling relationship. Solution-focused therapy utilizes skills already present to help navigate current concerns, focusing on being present and checking facts on emotions and feelings that might direct reactive responses to stressors. Constructivism proves the space for cultural humility and openness to worldviews I might not have had the privilege to interact with previously.

Hi! I help clients rediscover their inner voice and reclaim their sense of confidence. I find value working with people that might be feeling stuck or overwhelmed, struggling to find joy in the everyday moments, or lacking a sense of fulfillment. More specifically, I love working with individuals struggling with social anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, and individuals on the autism spectrum. I appreciate when clients are open to personal growth and are looking for guidance in navigating life’s challenges. I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in North Carolina. I received my Masters from East Carolina University. I am a first time mom to a little boy born back in October. Navigating motherhood has been my newest hobby but I also love being outside, listening to audiobooks, surf fishing, trying new food, and spending time with my family/friends.

Above all else I strive for authenticity in myself, my work, and my therapeutic relationships. I am very accepting of anyone who works with me and I encourage my clients to see themselves as the expert in their lives and their healing, while allowing me to guide them as they walk through the healing process in a way that is truly tailored to what they need and want from a therapist. I can be very free flowing in practice or offer more structured support. I have taken the time to decorate and prepare my space for ideal comfort and relaxation. I do my best to make sure that all senses are addressed and soothed as I expect most of the topics that we cover will do the opposite. Most importantly I will be myself, so be prepared for humor, lots of questions, and someone will put your needs above all else during the time that you are in my office.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by North Carolina rather than a city like Charlotte?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across North Carolina from Raleigh to Greensboro! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in North Carolina.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
