Jay Arroyo, DSW
Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who's been servicing the mental health needs of individuals and groups for over 15 years. I graduated with my undergraduates in Psychology and Spanish, followed by my Master's of Science in Social Work, and ended with my Doctorate of Clinical Leadership in Social Work.
My experience includes work with multi-ethnic children in foster group homes, adults in the Dallas area, women, and more recently with active duty military personnel.
I help people deal with day to day life challenges brought on by mental health concerns in our lives, sometimes due to trauma or significant events in our lives. My experience initiated working with multi-ethnic children in foster group homes, adults in the Dallas area, women, and more recently with active duty military personnel. I help my clients process and heal from trauma using various methods to meet each person where they are at. Providing therapy is a privilege for me. I'd love to see if I may be of service to you and your needs right where you are currently in you own life journey. Please schedule a session if you're interested in working together. I look forward to meeting you. Sometimes the best is yet to come.
First session
For our first session, I'd like to get to know you, what brings you to therapy, and learn some about your background and history. Knowing your goals and where you are at with them assists in knowing how to tailor a plan that will help us achieve your goals with the help of individualized therapy.
Strengths
I acknowledge people's challenges from their perspective and in light of the society we live in which includes at times societal expectations or systematic challenges we may deal with, all of which can impact our mental health. I bring in a trained listening ear, encourage compassion, self-awareness, acceptance and growth. Let me know if you're ready to work together on your goals and needs.
Ideal clients
I love working with people who consider faith to be an important part of their lives, people who are seeking to trust someone whom they can unload with, help make sense of the pieces of their puzzle, and who desire to grow and improve in their quality of life, relationships, and health in healing from their trauma. I provide individual therapy services only.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Learning to live life out of values versus goals can help us learn how to deal with the natural human experience and world of emotions.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
Understanding the impact of trauma in our lives in specific key areas and processing these areas can lead us on a path towards healing.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Learning to be present with ourselves is one of the most compassionate things we can do for ourselves.
Multicultural
Every culture has its strengths, what I like to call its glory, and its challenges. Can we learn to make peace with and find joy with our various backgrounds?
Faith based therapy
I believe faith is key in our journey towards healing, believing in what you cannot see is part of having hope.
