I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 27 years of experience working in human services and over 15 years of clinical experience. I have worked with various populations to include children and families involved in child welfare, adult adoptees, individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness that have experienced homelessness and involved in the criminal justice system, adoption related issues, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions.
You will be requested to complete intake paperwork prior to your appointment so the initial session will allow time to gather historical information, allow you opportunity to share your concerns, and develop goals for your treatment. Therapy is a process and together we will work collaboratively to explore your goals and develop a plan that is strength-based and client-centered.
I will empower and challenge you to increase self-awareness, develop insight, and learn healthy coping skills for a healthier and happier you. The goal is to help provide you with the insights and tools you need to move beyond old, limiting beliefs and behaviors. I create a safe space by bringing humor into the room and allowing you to be your authentic self in a safe space.
My clients are often eager to improve and ready to invest in the "self-work", however do not have the tools to make their goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious and depressed related to relationship patterns, their jobs, unresolved childhood or recent traumas that are impacting their well-being.
CBT is understanding how your thoughts and feelings impact your behaviors.
