I am glad you are here and taking the intentional step to improve your life through therapy. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have 10 years of experience. I work with adults that are impacted by Trauma, Grief/Loss, and Adjustment issues. We look at understanding how our physical and emotional health are interconnected, chronic health outcomes, and how this manifests in our body, utilizing mind and body treatment modalities. In addition, I work with older adults that may be impacted by childhood and lifelong trauma and fractured memories, utilizing attachment and mindfulness therapeutic interventions.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

As a relational therapist, I am looking to cultivate a therapeutic relationship and found out what may have worked in the past (either through past therapy or coping skills developed on their own) and what has not. We will also collaborate together on treatment goals and assessment, if we are a good fit to work together. This will allow for us to build upon future sessions and track progress within therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

The belief that every person possess their own strengths and resilience. I believe in being an authentic provider and removing the power differential that often exists within the therapeutic relationship. As a trauma-based therapist, being able to listen to your body and prioritize your own care and healing. My passion lies with the belief that therapy is for all. I enjoy working with older adults (50+) with identifying their own trauma and how this can often impact chronic health outcomes or exacerbate current health issues. This is often a population that is underserved and particularly vulnerable in our community.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with all adults that may be impacted by trauma, relationship challenges, adjustment issues, and grief/loss issues. I do have a specialization for working with the 55+ community, particularly as it relates to the intersection of chronic health outcomes and PTSD/Trauma Related symptoms.

I just had my first visit with Diane and after I hung up I immediately felt a sense of calmness and contentment that I have not had in quite a while. My feelings and concerns were validated so I feel like I am on the right track with her and look forward to my next appointment.

Diane was authentic and open-minded from the start. She made me feel comfortable with talking about experiences from my past that have impacted me so negatively. I look forward to working with her further.

I love that Diane made conversation easy. I felt heard and believe she was interested in working through my perception of my issues first before trying to give her opinion. I also felt very comfortable discussing some difficult topics I normally do not discuss with others. I left the session feeling we had a plan to start and some action items I can take before the next session.

My treatment methods

Relational

I utilize the relational model to build rapport and a therapeutic relationship with the client. This lends to other treatment models such as attachment, trauma informed care, and a collaborative approach. Thus, encouraging "doing with, instead of doing for", which prioritizes the best fit for the therapeutic relationship.

Attachment-based

Oftentimes, our early origins of attachment begin in childhood, which often can either positively or negatively effect our relationships. This follows much of Dr. Heller's work on healthy attachment and trauma informed care. Primarily looking at secure, and anxious/avoidant attachment.

Trauma Informed Care

My approach to this treatment method is a guiding treatment method in my practice. The universal acceptance that all individuals have likely had a traumatic event at least once in their lifetime. How to process their trauma, psycho-education, and utilization of other treatment methods, such as CBT, DBT and mindfulness approaches.
