I believe there is power in learning to balance our lives emotionally and spiritually. I have 30-plus years of experience as a counselor, and have been able to help clients find emotional and general life balance. I draw from primary treatment modalities of Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Solution Focused, Psychodynamic, and Existential Theories. At the conclusion of counseling, clients should be able to actively deal with their internal states in a way that allows them to feel more at peace with increased self-esteem, and well-being.
In our first session we will get to know one another. I will be open with my clients about my background and stary to build a therapeutic relationship of trust and safety and answer any questions a client may have. Primarily the time will be sent understanding what is bringing a person to seek counseling. At the end of the first session, I would like to have a general understanding of the presenting problem and then make possible suggestions about different strategies to use to bring about balance as we work together.
Having been a counselor for over 30 years, I believe I am relatable and am able to establish a comfortable, supportive therapeutic environment. I really hope to create an environment where a client can feel more human, less abstract and alone, and that they are person with a problem, not a problem person. I am a strong listener and when working as a team with a client, pick up intuitively on underlying issues that will lead to insight and empowerment.
I really enjoy working with adults who are struggling to find emotional balance and purpose. I try to sculpt a personal plan based upon getting to know the client individually, and work collaboratively with my clients to make adjustments to tools introduces to help them find balance.

Helping clients to find emotional balance by understanding link between thoughts that when distorted effect our feelings and how feelings can cause our thoughts to be distorted. Finding alternatives to distorted thinking can assist in reaching a more balanced emotional state.

I have visited Ken multiple times now and found him very easy and helpful to talk to. He listened well and provided solid and helpful insight. I felt he helped put me on a solid progressive track, rather than just sitting back and listening. passively. I am in a much better place now!

He truly listens and empathizes, offering thoughtful and solid feedback. We’ve been working with him for couples therapy, and he creates a space where we both feel comfortable, heard, and supported.
