Hi, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I believe that self care is vital to your overall wellbeing, I have worked with adults and adolescents in the private and public sector providing a wide array of culturally diverse services. With a strong focus on helping you identify the goals you would like to achieve while improving your overall mental health and wellbeing. I can assist those who may be experiencing low-self esteem, depression, and women's issues, at home or in the work place. I have over 30 years experience in the social service sector. I have a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s in Corrections and Theology with a minor in Psychology. I understand what it means to recover from traumatic and challenging life events. My integrated therapeutic approach is Person Centered, Mindfulness Based- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Whole Person Systems Perspectives. Together we will work as a team building on your strengths, working toward a healthier, happier and fulfilling life.
In your first session, you’ll help the therapist understand the problem you’re dealing with and what you hope to achieve with Therapy. The therapist and the Individual will then formulate a plan to achieve a specific goal. Goals should be: • Specific • Measurable • Achievable
My greatest strength as a provider is to encourage and to motivate individuals to pursue their goals and their dreams to become their best (self). As a Counselor, I have been successful in helping individuals identify the root causes of their challenges and create strategies and the skills they need to lead to measurable progress.
I love working with clients who deal with low self esteem, low motivation, substance abuse and women's issues. My client's often feel stagnant, overwhelmed and need to develop tools for self Improvement. They are ready to work on tailored plans to help achieve their ultimate goals, dreams and self worth.
I have many years of experience working with clients, with cognitive restructuring or reframing (identifying negative thought patterns, learning how to reframe those thought patterns so they’re more positive and productive). Relaxation and stress reduction techniques ( deep breathing exercises, muscle relaxation, imagery) Practical skills to help lower stress and increase your sense of control. These are just a few of the CBT techniques used for treatment in our sessions.
