I am a Christian therapist who feels that every adult person's spiritual beliefs are a strong factor for emotional healing. I am convinced that a life of hope, faith, and peace of mind awaits you. I want to help guide you to develop a clean pattern of life, a clean conscience, and self-confidence, which will remove the shadow of fear and guilt that seems to be hanging over you. Let me help you and together we will work on your development of the skills, for the successful and rewarding life that you have always desired. I received my MA in Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida. I have five years' experience, which consists of counseling adolescents at a runaway shelter and counseling the adult through Geriatrics population at a Community Mental Health Center.
During our first sessions we will get to know each other in a non-judgmental atmosphere, where trust can begin to be built. We will discuss a series of intake questions and use some other assessment techniques, which will help me get to know you better. Once we explore the issues that compelled you to seek counseling, we will begin the process of goal setting. Then, together we will develop a treatment plan, which will successfully help you to accomplish your goals. In order to help us get focused on each therapy session, I suggest that we begin by practicing Christian based mindfulness, relaxation techniques, which incorporate prayer. I will bring together different therapeutic approaches to provide you with the best tools, to enable you to acknowledge and process your emotions, while also helping you to reframe unhealthy thinking patterns. You will be assigned something concrete to do every week, to be revisited the following week. We will assess and make changes to the treatment plan as we go along. You will become empowered to make positive changes in your life.
I have personally dealt with many problematic issues in my own life, which have helped me to acquire empathy and understanding towards my clients. As a result of my own problematic childhood, I have had my own experiences, that lead to complex post traumatic stress disorder in my life. It caused me to have destructive behavior and thinking patterns, that resulted in personal problems in my relationships and my ability to succeed in life. But I struggled to become a survivor, by developing the skills that have changed my life into one of joy, peace, and purpose.
As an adult, do you continually relive past memories of childhood traumatic experiences? As a result, you find your life a struggle, filled with feelings of depression, anger, and anxiety, instead of joy and fulfillment? Have you found yourself falling into repetitive, negative behavioral patterns, in an effort to quiet your thoughts and cope with the resulting feelings you have developed. Do you find that you have a conscience that is overwhelmed with a guilt from the past and a fear of the future? I have a special interest in treating clients, who struggle with the effects of early childhood, complex-traumatic life experiences. These experiences can keep you stuck, in dysfunctional problem solving patterns. I am continually in the process of learning the latest skills, to help my clients, especially male clients, so they can acquire the skills to function in their lives more successfully. This is accomplished by using tools, such as curiosity, your own natural strengths and abilities, and by learning how to develop increase awareness of your thoughts and the world around you.

I use Trauma-Focused CBT - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients learn new CBT-dysfunctional behavioral patterns and behavioral addictions. You will become curious to learn how these behavioral patterns and addictions were normal reactions, that helped you protect yourself from the traumatizing wounds in your childhood. Trauma-Focused CBT will give you new tools to resolve the new life challenges that trigger past memories of behavior patterns. Clients are encouraged to become curious about why they developed traumatic childhood wounds. Trauma-Focused CBT will teach better problem-solving patterns to utilize, rather than the dysfunctional patterns of behavior or the behavioral addictions you've become accustomed to relying on in the past.
Wounding programs the mind, heart, body, and spirit with unhealthy and destructive messages. Our sessions will always be based on Christian Biblical principles, which incorporate the heart, mind, body, and spirit. I am a Christian therapist who feels that a person’s spiritual beliefs are a strong factor for emotional healing. Biblical principles give us a moral foundation, for guiding us in deciding on the best direction for dealing with our issues. Sometimes because of feelings of low self-worth, many isolate themselves. They battle with their loneliness & their inability to develop wholesome relationships with both other men & woman alike. They resort to fulfilling their loneliness, by becoming addicted to pornography. They create their perfect friends, from the fantasy world of the images they view. They believe this is a way to end the loneliness they feel in their hearts. Or they may end their loneliness, by being involved with one sexual partner after another. This happens with both men who are attracted to the opposite sex, as well as those attracted to the same sex. Let's work together in helping you build your self-worth, to enable you to gain confidence in yourself. Then you will become empowered to develop wholesome relationships &/or strengthen your relationship with your wife or your partner. I find that trauma-focused CBT helps men to begin the work of centering and balancing their masculine self, within their personality. We’ll work together to help you learn to grow your relationship with God, as the masculine center of your life. Then it will be important for you to learn skills to develop relationships with other Godly men, to support you in the affirmation of your masculinity. The power of your masculine qualities and gifts are within you, but they need to be “affirmed” in your life.
I use Mindfulness-based interventions that help you deal with your moment to moment thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. I help clients by using tools such as curiosity, their own natural strengths and abilities, and teaching them how to develop increased awareness of their thoughts and the world around them.
