Hi! my name is LaToya Davis M.A, LMHC. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida with over 14 years of professional experience. I have experience in helping Adolescents and Adults with coping with addictions, depression, anxiety, stress, motivation, parenting and other mental health areas that can cause impairments within our daily lives. I strive to create an environment that allows clients to explore challenges and obstacles while providing a safe space for clients to share their stories remaining non-judgmental. I also believe in meeting my client's where there are to assist them with achieving their desirable treatment goals.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our initial session together will start with brief introductions to assist with rapport building, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Meeting my clients where they are is very important to me! Having worked with adolescence and adults for the past 13 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you identify the root cause of your challenges and create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress. I am a believer of positive affirmations and speaking positiveness into one's own life.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I love working with adolescents and adults who are willing to explore and identify barriers in their life that affect their ability to live their life to its full potential. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their lives.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-centered therapy utilizes a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in sessions that can result to the discovery their own solutions. I am a compassionate facilitator, who listens without judgment and acknowledges my client’s experiences without shifting the conversation in another direction. I offer encouragement and support to assist my patients with their process of self-discovery, as they uncover their self-defeating behaviors that interfere with living their life to its full potential.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavorial Therapy is a widely practiced therapeutic approach that focuses on the interplay between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. This type of therapy aims to help clients identify and modify dysfunctional thought patterns (stinking thinking) to bring about positive changes in emotional well-being and behaviors. This approach can be beneficial for clients who experience symptomatic behaviors related to depression, anxiety, addiction and trauma.
Trauma Informed Care
Being trauma-informed means, I understand how past experiences—especially those involving overwhelm, neglect, or harm—can shape the way we think, feel, and relate to others. Your safety, choice, and comfort are always central in our work together. I won’t rush you or push you into places you’re not ready to go. We move at your pace, with deep respect for what feels supportive to your body and mind. Whether your trauma comes from a single event or ongoing experiences, I hold space for it with care and without judgment. My goal is to create a steady, compassionate space where healing happens gently—by helping you reconnect with your strength, clarity, and the parts of you that are ready to grow. You're not broken. You're carrying what was never meant to be carried alone.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented approach that focuses on identifying and building solutions rather than dwelling on problems. In SFBT, the priority is placed on finding solutions for presenting concerns, rather than past experiences. This approach can be beneficial for clients who experience symptomatic behaviors associated with mental health challenges, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, addiction, child behavioral concerns and family dysfunction.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation is a range of activities that combines education with other interventions to help clients with mental health and substance use disorders understand their diagnoses and learn effective and healthy ways to manage their symptoms. Activities included for psychoeducation: worksheets, booklets, videos, audiotapes, relaxation techniques and homework tasks. All clients can benefit from psychoeducation to increase their self-awareness and overall wellbeing.
