I have spent many years in various counseling positions. I counseled incarcerated individuals for over 10 years then began counseling individuals who were striving to work through their addictions into recovery. My scope covers a wide variety including mental illness, both undiagnosed and diagnosed, drug and alcohol addiction and recovery, trauma, women's issues, individuals that are victims of abuse, as well as those struggling with depression and/ or anxiety. I have a very diverse background, an open-mind and work at a non-judgmental capacity. I realize that everyone is seeking counseling for a variety of reasons, so I work with the individual to structure therapy around the goals that are set and what is wanted out of therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

What you can expect with our first session is getting to know each other, a little history and the goals that you have for therapy. It's very laid back. The client is in the drivers seat.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my greatest strengths as a provider as being genuine, empathetic, and having excellent listening skills. This makes it easier for my clients to connect with me and trust me.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through CBT I help the patient/client learn to be their own therapists. Through exercises outside of sessions, they can learn to change their own thinking, problematic behaviors, and emotions.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This method of treatment helps people to focus on the present moment and accept their thoughts and feelings without judgement. This helps people move out of past difficult emotions so they can focus on healing instead of dwelling on the negative.
