Hello, I'm Benita. I am a licensed clinical social worker and I have been in private practice for the past 3 years, working with children, adolescents, and adults. I am currently not seeing children as I am currently only providing online therapy via telehealth. I have a friendly nature and I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy. I believe that my personal experiences help me to connect with my clients. I have experience with marriage, divorce, children, trauma, immigration, and multi-cultural issues. I know that life is often hard, especially if you don't have a good support system. I'm here to help you to explore what is getting in the way of you living your best life. I can't wait to meet you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is spent gathering background information about you. This helps me to get a sense of who you are and what you would like to work on during our sessions.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use an integrated approach to therapy according to the client's needs. I use a person-in-environment perspective to view the client holistically and to help the client identify factors in their environment that may be negatively impacting them. I use a strengths perspective because I believe that clients are more resilient than they realize. I acknowledge that trauma is at the root of most issues, so I use a trauma-informed approach to help clients have a better understanding of themselves. Some specific methods include NARM (for complex/developmental trauma), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (for PTSD), and Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping).

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is my ability to empathize and connect with people. I really focus on trauma and past experiences and how they impact the way we view the world and how we respond to different people and situations. I understand that stressors come in many forms and can be really harmful to both our mental and physical well-being. Once we understand and recognize our survival strategies and thinking patterns, we can start to make mental shifts that help us to be happier, healthier, and more successful.
