My name is Lydia Anthony, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and I am the owner of Rejoice in the Rain Counseling. Do you feel powerless against the whirlpool of rapid changes? Do you feel drowned by the downpour of fear, worry, and anxiety? Is it hard to see beyond the dark clouds of depression? Perhaps you feel swept away by the waves of past hurt, regret, and guilt. Or caught up in a cyclone of self-doubt and insecurity. Let me be your companion as we navigate these storms that represent the struggles in life! Through my own experiences, I’ve learned that even in life’s darkest moments, there’s always a glimmer of hope waiting to be discovered. Whether you're seeking support during a difficult time or simply pursuing personal growth, you're not alone. I build each therapeutic relationship on the principles of safety, trust, respect, empathy, and support. I provide trauma-informed care that goes beyond listening; I also provide education, guide you in those deep conversations, and brainstorm solutions with you. One of my strengths is that I see systemic challenges faced by various groups. I take a community-oriented approach to connect you with essential resources so you can focus on your healing journey without worry. My style is unique in that I think creatively and outside-of-the-box. If you would like more information on my services, please visit my website: www.rejoiceintheraincounseling.com I look forward to working with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, also known as the intake, we will get to learn more about you and give you the chance to share what brought you to therapy and what you would like to gain from this experience! We will also go over our counseling agreement and answer any questions you may have. Think of it as the "orientation" to therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I would say my greatest strength is that I have struggled with anxiety, depression, and loss in my life, which helps me to see things from the other perspective and has shaped my philosophy to life, which is this: Each of us encounters personal storms in our lives. In the midst of them, we find a unique opportunity for transformation, healing, and even joy. Let the rains usher in a season of hope and growth!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The CBT approach highlights the interaction between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It helps us see what contributes to both positive and negative experiences in your life, and what needs to change to lead to more positive outcomes.

Trauma Informed Care

The trauma-informed approach is mindful of what you've been through, minimizing anything that might trigger discomfort, and ensuring you feel secure enough to open up when you're ready.

Grief Therapy

Grief counseling helps you process and work through sudden or long-term grief or loss, respecting your experiences and emotions, whether that includes sadness, anger, relief, guilt. Whether you need support, structure, deep conversations, or wish to incorporate your own culture, beliefs, and traditions—I am here for you every step of the way.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation refers to education and skill-building within the scope of mental health and well-being. Examples of skills include effective communication, emotional regulation, coping techniques to manage symptoms such as anxiety and panic attacks, and creating a positive mindset. I'm also here to help you secure the resources you need, whether it's social services, support groups, career guidance, etc.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a structured approach that helps you to (1) cope with stressful situations more effectively, (2) better regulate your emotions, (3) improve your communication and relationships, and (4) live more in the present moment.
