LCSW, 30 years of experience
New to Grow
I have been working as a therapist for more than 10 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Before that, I used to be a Family Support Worker and a Case Manager for children involved with the Dependency System and their families as well as the foster families caring for them during the times they were living apart from their families or other primary caregivers. As a LCSW, I work with children, youth, and families facing challenges such as ADHA, adjustment disorders, family conflict/communication issues, and parenting. My approach combines warmth, compassion, evidence-based therapies like CBT, and a blend of acceptance and commitment therapy to assist my clients in developing healthy coping skills. I also include mindfulness techniques to foster grounded, meaningful change. I deeply believe that understanding the mind-body connection provides clients with skills to know more about themselves, which helps them build resilience, understand emotions, manage behaviors, and create strong and healthy relationships
During our first session, we will learn about each other. You will be invited to talk about what brought you to the session, and to share information about you at your own pace. I will ask some questions to understand what you would like to achieve during treatment as well about your goals and challenges. I am confident in the professional skills I have been using for years, and I am grateful for positive feedback from my clients. I take every single detail as part of the big puzzle we are going to build along the process. The final goal is to assist you in achieving a positive outlook and a level of well-being that makes you feel satisfied with your life.
I mainly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. However, my therapeutic approach varies depending on whether I am working with a client individually or with a group. Based on age, maturity, or level of conflict, I use play therapy techniques, talk therapy, narrative therapy, structural family therapy and conflict resolution therapy. I have received positive feedback from my adolescent clients and their families. I also obtained positive results with younger clients, who exhibited improvement in communicating their needs and wants to their parents, caregivers and peers.
My passion is helping children and their families to contribute to the quality of their lives. I am committed to working with clients who are willing to participate and engage in a process that will bring answers, tools and resources to them, which will improve communication skills , managing relationships, and the tools to get though difficult times.
I have been use goal oriented method and I have had the opportunity to observe positive changes in behaviors and thought process in 90% of my clients. The focus on current issues allows my clients to be engaged in learning how to manage the issues that are preventing them from well being.Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a key treatment for many challenges
