Hi, and welcome to my page! I’m so glad you’re here. I'm Shira Sivan, LCSW, dually licensed in New York and Florida. I work with adults and young professionals who are navigating anxiety, stress, and life transitions, as well as teens who feel like they’re just going through the motions of life. My clients often come to me when they’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. Together, we create a space where you can pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what’s happening in your world. Whether you’re adjusting to new responsibilities, relationships, or simply trying to find your footing, I bring a compassionate and down-to-earth approach to help you build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with your authentic self. I welcome clients seeking short-term support to process specific challenges, as well as those interested in longer-term therapy for deeper growth. And because life can feel heavy, I weave in humor and warmth to make the process feel lighter and more human.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

We’ll start by simply getting to know each other. This is your space to share what’s been on your mind and what brought you here. Together, we’ll begin to notice the patterns that may be keeping you stuck — things like self-doubt, avoiding tough situations, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, or struggling to communicate your needs. Rather than judging these patterns, we’ll approach them with curiosity and compassion. Over time, you’ll learn how to recognize them, shift your perspective, and find healthier ways to move through life’s ups and downs. Therapy isn’t about having all the answers right away — it’s about starting where you are, taking one step at a time, and discovering what works best for you. Most importantly, you don’t have to do it alone. I’ll be right there with you, offering support, reflection, and even a touch of humor to make the process feel lighter.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I strive to create a space where you feel truly understood. I approach our work with empathy and respect for your unique background, culture, and life experiences, because your perspective matters. Building a strong, trusting relationship is at the heart of my approach — one where you feel valued, heard, and supported. Clients often tell me they appreciate my mix of warmth, humor, and honesty. I’m direct in a way that keeps our conversations clear and meaningful, while humor helps lighten the process and makes it easier to open up. Most importantly, I’m adaptable. I’ll tailor our work to fit your needs, so therapy feels natural and right for you. Together, we’ll create a path forward that feels authentic, empowering, and sustainable.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

The young adults I work with come to therapy from all walks of life. Some are stepping into this space for the very first time, while others have prior experience and are ready to dive deeper into their personal growth. If you’re looking for a supportive, down-to-earth therapist, I’d love to connect. Maybe you’re feeling the pressure of college exams, social media, or just trying to make sense of your emotions. Perhaps you’re dealing with anxiety, family challenges, or the stress of new responsibilities. You might be starting a job, navigating relationships, or wondering what direction your life should take. And sometimes, anxiety or low mood can make it hard to enjoy the things that matter most. Wherever you’re starting from, therapy can be a place to pause, reflect, and build new tools for resilience. Together, we’ll work toward helping you feel more confident, grounded, and ready to take on whatever comes next.

My treatment methods

Integrative

This journey is yours, and you know yourself best. We will start off by exploring what brings you to therapy, your goals for sessions, and how you will recognize progress. Through the supportive space of therapy, we'll utilize modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT to process difficult feelings and build healthy coping skills.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In the last 6 months, ACT therapy has helped my teenage and young adult clients build greater emotional resilience, develop mindfulness skills, and engage more effectively in actions aligned with their values, despite challenging thoughts or feelings. I want to help you develop the same skills, allowing you to face life's challenges with more confidence, clarity, and a sense of purpose.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With CBT, you can get out of a "mental rut" by learning to identify negative thought patterns, break free from unproductive behaviors, and create a more positive, proactive mindset that empowers you to make meaningful changes in your life.

Strength-Based

Using a strengths-based approach, I want to help you tap into your strengths and the wonderful qualities that make you unique, empowering you to overcome challenges, build resilience, and create a life that aligns with your values and aspirations.

She is always happy to talk about things that are going on and helping me continue down a path to better myself! I enjoy talking to her in my sessions and would recommend her to anyone that just wants to get things off their mind especially with things that are hard to talk about!
