I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Addiction Professional who has worked with adults, children, families and seniors. I have worked with individuals experiencing a variety of mental health issues including substance abuse, grief and loss, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and career burnout to name a few. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques to help individuals gain insight, awareness and understanding about themselves. I am a real person who lives, survives and tries to be the best version of myself everyday. Just like you! I will reach out to you where you are at emotionally. I offer a very human experience and a safe place for you to be you. You are the most important part of our work together and you are in charge of the direction we are heading. I will meet you where you are right now emotionally. When under my care, I will be dedicated to helping you find a better balance for your personal experience. To seek out help takes a lot of courage! I already admire you for having the awareness and strength to say, “ Hey Jacob, I am ready to do something about what I am going through! “ I am here to make you feel as comfortable as possible while we hit the ground running together.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is about getting oriented, not being analyzed. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out, no “right” way to show up, and no expectation that you tell your entire life story in one hour. We’ll start by getting to know each other in a real, down-to-earth way. You’ll have space to talk about what’s bringing you in, what feels heavy or confusing, and what you hope might change—whether that’s related to mood, anxiety, addiction, relationships, career direction, or simply feeling stuck. I’ll ask thoughtful, straightforward questions to help us clarify what’s actually going on beneath the surface. This session is collaborative and practical. We’ll begin identifying patterns, strengths, and roadblocks, and we’ll talk honestly about what support could look like moving forward. You can expect clarity, direction, and a sense of being understood—not judgment, labels, or cookie-cutter responses. By the end of the session, most clients leave feeling more grounded, less alone, and with a clearer sense of next steps. The goal isn’t to “fix” everything in one meeting—it’s to start building momentum, trust, and a path forward that feels manageable and yours.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I’ve been on the other side of the therapy chair—and that matters. My lived experience with depression, ADD, substance use, panic attacks, and trauma allows me to connect with clients in a way that’s real, grounded, and judgment-free. I’m not cookie-cutter or overly clinical. I’m down to earth, engaged, and adaptive, using approaches that fit you, not a formula. Therapy with me can include humor, honest conversations, and modern, evidence-informed strategies that actually translate into real-life change. Clients often tell me they feel understood, comfortable, and supported—without feeling talked down to or pathologized.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with people ages 12–99 who are ready for change—even if they don’t yet know what that change should look like. My clients are often at pivotal moments in their lives: deciding where to begin their careers, questioning whether their current path fits, or feeling pulled to explore new ways of thinking about life, work, and themselves. They are motivated, capable, and self-aware, but may feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or uncertain about their next steps. Decision-making can feel paralyzing, confidence may waver, and self-doubt can take up more space than they want it to. They know they’re meant for more—they just need the tools, clarity, and support to move forward. I also have extensive experience working with addiction and substance use, as well as depression, panic attacks, anxiety, grief and I approach this work with honesty, compassion, and zero judgment. My style is comprehensive, straightforward, and empowering—helping clients build insight, develop real-world skills, and take meaningful action. Whether you’re just starting out, starting over, or simply ready to do things differently, therapy with me is about reclaiming agency, building resilience, and creating a path forward that actually feels like yours.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT and other modalities successfully throughout my career depending on client needs. I use CBT specifically to help clients become more aware of the correlation between thoughts, feelings and behavior.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT to help clients embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. Applying more acceptance in every facet of our lives is the cheat code, so to speak, for achieving serenity.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT to help clients strike a balance between validation (acceptance) of who you are and your challenges and the benefits of change. The ultimate goal is to improve emotion regulation.

Positive Psychology

I help clients see the strengths they already possess, guiding them to reframe challenges and celebrate small wins. Through gratitude, goal-setting, and resilience-building, they move from merely coping to thriving—creating meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

Compassion Focused

I know from the heart how life can weigh heavily on us. I help clients meet themselves with kindness, compassion, and understanding—learning to soften self-criticism, embrace their struggles, and build resilience. Together, we create space for genuine healing and growth.
