Hi! My name is Kathryn and I'm a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. I graduated from Troy University with my degree in clinical mental health counseling. My aim is to listen closely to what brings you to therapy, provide a safe and supportive space to explore personal challenges, and adapt our work together to suit your unique needs and goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we’ll begin with a brief introduction and then focus on the specific challenges you’re dealing with. Together, we will create a personalized plan for us to explore in our future sessions. You can expect a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where we’ll work together to navigate your unique challenges.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am dedicated to supporting individuals through life’s challenges, fostering personal growth, and guiding them toward healing. With a compassionate, client-focused approach, I create a safe, respectful space where clients feel heard and empowered to explore their thoughts and emotions.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who are motivated to make positive changes in their lives but may not yet have the tools to turn their goals into reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, or anxious about certain aspects of their life.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a type of therapy that's goal is to help one accept their own thoughts and feelings without judgement. Instead of trying to fight or avoid difficult feelings, you learn to accept them without judgment and then take meaningful steps toward the kind of life you want, based on your values.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The goal is to identify and process unhelpful thought patterns and replace them with more balanced ones, while also working on behaviors that support your goals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Rogerian therapy emphasizes your ability for self-understanding and personal growth. This involves incorporating unconditional positive regard, congruence, and empathic understanding. This approach allows you to explore your own thoughts and feelings.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing helps you explore your own reasons for change. Together, we work together to understand what matters most to you and what might be getting in the way. The goal is to strengthen your motivation and confidence to promote making changes that align with your values and goals.
