I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that something isn't OK right now. That something might be new, or it might have been around a long time. You might be able to describe it perfectly, or you might just feel off without knowing why. Either way — you're here, and that's the only thing that matters right now. I start from wherever you are. No assumptions, no judgments, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just a genuine desire to understand you — what's brought you here, what you're carrying, and what you're hoping for. Therapy with me — whether you're coming alone or with a partner — tends to be honest and occasionally even a little lighthearted. The human experience isn't black and white, and neither is the work we'll do together. What stays consistent is that you'll have a space that belongs to you, where nothing you say or feel changes how I show up for you. For couples, that space belongs to both of you equally. I don't take sides. What I do is help you see the pattern you're both caught in — because most of the time it's the cycle doing the damage, not each other. When that shifts, something else becomes possible. No matter what it is you are navigating — depression, relationships, identity, or the gap between how you show up and how you actually feel inside — you don't have to have it figured out to reach out.

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space; within that space lies your power and freedom…” Here’s the thing; we’re all basically the same- but then again, not. Our reactions (to unexpected events, comments, public scrutiny) can vary, depending on our nature, personality, character and whether or not we’ve had breakfast. While the last part was just to get your attention, I’m committed to understanding what makes YOU “tick” and why you respond the way you do. That, in and of itself may be fascinating, but my true intention is to get you back on track, help you find your footing and become laser-focused & confident, regardless of your circumstances! A bit about me: A native New Yorker, I acquired my MSW following a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CCNY. Essentially, I view myself as a scientist and life coach, a motivator who recognizes that we’re ALL unique individuals, but do share many of the same thoughts & feelings. Most of us have struggled with anxiety, uncertainty and self-doubt; yet we’ve also experienced feeling confident, grounded and secure at one time or another. Then something happened and our self-esteem took a hit; there were setbacks. Bear in mind, our backgrounds and early childhood experiences, our genetic predispositions all serve to shape our personalities and the essence of our being. To that end, as a clinician, I strive to guide individuals to examine their beliefs- in order to gain insight into their potentially self-destructive behavior- or whatever is getting in the way of their progress. Together, we’ll explore what’s influenced your self-concept and self-esteem. The saying that always resonated with me, “If you think you can, or you think you can’t- you’re right…” Life can feel overwhelming & insurmountable, but with the right tools, the sky’s the limit- whatever you’re facing!

Are you tired of feeling trapped in the same endless cycle? Does the weight of your thoughts feel heavier with each passing day? Enough is enough. It’s time to reclaim your reality, your joy, and your sense of self. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and I have a deep passion for helping people move through anxiety, depression, emotional stuck points, and the challenges that can make life feel overwhelming. I create a space where you can be real, feel heard, and begin making sense of what you are experiencing without judgment. My approach is warm, genuine, collaborative, and highly solution-focused. I believe therapy should be more than simply talking about the same problems week after week. Together, we work to understand what is happening, identify the patterns keeping you stuck, develop practical tools, and begin making meaningful changes that you can actually feel in your everyday life. I am naturally someone who wants to understand the “why,” but I am equally interested in the “what now?” What can we do differently? What can we change? What can help you feel more grounded, more confident, and more in control of your life? My work is rooted in empathy, curiosity, honesty, and collaboration. You do not have to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. We start exactly where you are, take things one step at a time, and work together toward creating a life that feels healthier, more fulfilling, and more like your own.

Seeking therapy is a courageous first step, and you don't have to have everything figured out before we begin. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely understood, respected, and supported. I take a person-centered, integrative approach to therapy, which means I tailor our work to you rather than trying to fit you into one specific style of therapy. Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, and mindfulness-based interventions, we'll work together to better understand what's happening, identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and build practical tools for meaningful change. Clients often describe my style as warm, collaborative, genuine, and thoughtfully direct. I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable enough to be yourself while also feeling supported to challenge old patterns, discover new perspectives, and continue growing at a pace that feels right for you.

I believe therapy should do more than give you a place to talk, it should help you understand what's not working and actually do something about it. I work with adults and couples dealing with communication problems, relationship conflict, anxiety, trust concerns, life transitions, and feeling stuck in patterns that keep repeating. My style is warm and conversational, but I'm also active in the process. I'll ask questions, challenge you when needed, and help you turn what we discuss into practical changes outside of therapy.

I’ve always been interested in understanding people — how life experiences, relationships, stress, and challenges shape the way we cope and move through the world. Over time, I realized I found a lot of meaning in helping people work through obstacles, gain perspective, and feel less stuck in the things weighing them down. I know it can be hard to ask for support, especially when you’ve been trying to manage everything on your own. I want clients to feel comfortable being honest about what they’re facing while also working together to find practical, concrete solutions that help life feel more manageable and move them toward meaningful, lasting change. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and my Master’s degree in Social Work with a clinical focus from Capella University. Over the past 14 years, I have worked with children, teens, adults, couples, and families across in-home, outpatient, and telehealth settings. I’ve supported people through some of the most difficult periods of their lives, including severe anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, family conflict, crisis situations, and overwhelming life stress. Working in a variety of settings and with diverse client needs has taught me how to meet people where they are, adapt to challenging situations, and help clients find realistic ways to move forward. I see therapy as a place to be real about what’s not working and figure out what needs to change. Some clients come in feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected in relationships, overwhelmed by responsibilities, or frustrated by patterns they can’t seem to break. My role is to help people make sense of what they’re experiencing, develop practical tools that actually fit their lives, and regain a stronger sense of control, stability, and confidence moving forward.

You may be the person everyone depends on — the caregiver, professional, parent, ministry leader, or helper — yet internally you feel emotionally exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or stuck. Perhaps you are grieving a loss, navigating burnout, struggling with depression or anxiety, carrying unresolved trauma, or quietly trying to hold everything together while feeling alone inside. I provide emotionally safe, psychologically grounded counseling for adults, adolescents, couples, caregivers, clergy, and high-functioning individuals seeking healing, clarity, and support during difficult seasons of life. As both a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Catholic priest with a PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Connecticut, I bring together evidence-based therapy with compassionate human and pastoral insight. For clients who desire it, spirituality and faith can thoughtfully become part of the healing process. For others, therapy may remain fully focused on emotional and psychological care. My approach is compassionate, reflective, practical, and deeply respectful of each client’s background, values, and lived experiences. Together, we work toward helping you: . process grief and emotional pain, . manage anxiety, depression, and stress, . heal from burnout and trauma, . strengthen emotional boundaries, . improve relationships and communication, . reconnect with your sense of identity and peace, . and move toward meaningful and lasting change. You do not have to carry everything alone anymore.

I have lived a long and colorful life. Like everyone else, I've made good and bad choices and learned from each. I have 22+ years experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment field. I DO NOT JUDGE, AT ALL, PERIOD. I can be both blunt and gentle as appropriate. My role is to offer another perspective, a way to see life more fully and function better, no more, no less. I don't pretend to have all the answers but only one slice of wisdom. I just share what can help someone. Some people are not yet ready to be helped. Yet for those who are feeling lost on life's journey and are willing to listen and learn, I'm here to assist. My life work can be summed up in three words, "offering people hope. " "The wound is where the light enters." - Jeladdin Rumi "A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once." Martin Luther King Jr. "Wouldn't take nothin' for my journey now." - Maya Angelou "The past is gone, and there is left only a blessing." - Kahlil Gibran "Be true to yourself, and you will be false to no one else." - William Shakespeare "How very lucky are we, for just a moment to be, part of life's eternal rhyme." I’m a therapist who believes meaningful change comes from a combination of insight, accountability, and consistent action. My work is shaped not only by clinical training, but by a grounded understanding of adversity, resilience, and what it takes to rebuild and move forward. I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns—whether related to trauma, stress, relationships, or major life transitions—and are ready to create something more stable and intentional. Many of my clients are navigating challenges such as emotional reactivity, impulsive behaviors, or difficulty maintaining consistency in their lives. My approach is direct, practical, and focused on helping you develop the tools needed for real, lasting change. I use evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to support emotional regulation, stronger decision-making, and long-term growth. I have a particular interest in working with individuals navigating recovery, reentry, and significant life rebuilding, while remaining open to anyone seeking clarity, stability, and a more grounded way of living.

Welcome, my name is Adam McReynolds. My ideal clients are individuals and families navigating trauma, identity, and major life transitions—whether due to military service, complex relationships, or adolescence. Many people feel overwhelmed by the weight of their past or unsure of how to move forward. We want to feel empowered, emotionally safe, and in control of our lives. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Mediator (LPM) certified through the National Association of Certified Mediators (NACM), and a combat Veteran certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), I specialize in trauma recovery, relationship dynamics, and Sex Therapy. My background in both therapy and mediation allows me to help individuals, couples, and families navigate conflict, improve communication, and develop practical solutions to complex challenges. I offer a supportive, direct, and culturally responsive space to explore healing and growth. My work blends evidence-based approaches with deep compassion and practical tools. Whether you're working through the lasting impacts of trauma, or someone in a blended family seeking peace, you're not alone. I've walked alongside many on similar journeys, and I’m here to support yours. Let’s take the next step together. I'm not shy to say it like it is.

Hi, I’m Heather Plourde, LPC. I’m a licensed professional counselor who believes therapy should feel like a real conversation — not a clinical interrogation or a place where you have to pretend you have it all together. I’ve worked across private practice, community programs, and leadership roles in mental health, so I’ve seen just about every version of “life got complicated,” and I know change doesn’t happen through advice alone.

Hi there! My name is Jaron Cotton and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the field of mental health. While life is a blessing for us all, it can bring incredible challenges filled with stress that can seem impossible at times. My goal in therapy is understand your goals and work together to help you achieve them. True growth comes from challenging ourselves to process, reflect and adapt in a healthy way. Remember that asking for help and showing vulnerability is actually a sign of strength, never a weakness! I am available through telehealth only at this time, but may be accepting in-person clients in the future. Thank you!

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Connecticut. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Connecticut from New Haven to Springfield! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Connecticut.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Men's Issues, is filtering therapists in Connecticut that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
