Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my primary goal is to get to know you better and create a safe, comfortable space for us to begin working together. We’ll start by talking about your background, what brought you to therapy, and any challenges or experiences you’re currently facing. This helps me understand your unique situation and how best to support you. We’ll also discuss your goals for therapy—what you hope to achieve and what outcomes you’d like to see. I want to understand what you’re looking for in this process, whether it’s managing anxiety, navigating a life transition, or improving relationships. I’ll ask about your past experiences with therapy, if any, and what worked or didn’t work for you. This gives me insight into your preferences and helps me tailor our approach to meet your needs. Lastly, we’ll talk about your expectations for therapy—what you hope to get out of our sessions and how you’d like our work together to unfold. My role is to guide you, and I want to make sure we’re aligned on how we’ll work together to reach your goals. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clear understanding of where you’re starting from, what we’ll focus on moving forward, and how we can make this process as helpful and effective as possible for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What Makes Me Unique What makes me unique as a therapist is the combination of my extensive professional experience and the life experiences that have shaped my understanding of resilience, loss, relationships, and personal growth. For more than 20 years, I have worked in healthcare, senior services, leadership, and behavioral health, helping individuals and families navigate stress, grief, caregiving challenges, life transitions, and emotional struggles. This diverse background allows me to bring both clinical expertise and real-world perspective to the therapy process. My personal experiences have also profoundly influenced my work. As a widower who lost my wife to cancer, I understand firsthand the impact that grief, loss, and unexpected life changes can have on a person’s emotional well-being. While every individual’s journey is unique, I know the challenges of rebuilding, adapting, and finding a path forward after loss. As a father, caregiver, and healthcare professional, I have a deep appreciation for the demands of balancing responsibilities while trying to care for yourself. I understand how easy it can be to put your own needs aside while supporting others, and I recognize the emotional toll that can take over time. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with healthcare professionals, caregivers, executives, working adults, and older adults facing a wide range of personal and professional challenges. These experiences have given me insight into workplace stress, relationship dynamics, caregiving responsibilities, aging, and the many transitions people encounter throughout life. Clients often tell me they appreciate my ability to combine professional expertise with genuine empathy, practical guidance, and a down-to-earth approach. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life. I believe that therapy is not simply about managing problems—it is about discovering strengths, building resilience, and creating a life that feels more balanced, purposeful, and fulfilling.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with adults who are facing life's challenges or simply need a compassionate, nonjudgmental person to talk with. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, or a major life transition, I provide a supportive space where you can explore your concerns, gain perspective, and develop practical strategies for moving forward. Many of the individuals I work with are navigating significant changes such as career transitions, relationship challenges, retirement, health concerns, caregiving responsibilities, or adjusting to a new phase of life. These experiences can bring uncertainty, emotional distress, and a sense of feeling overwhelmed. Together, we can identify effective ways to cope, build resilience, and restore a greater sense of balance and well-being. I also have extensive experience helping individuals who are coping with grief and loss. Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a change in health, or another significant life loss, I can help you process your emotions, find meaning, and move forward at your own pace. In addition, I specialize in supporting caregivers who often place the needs of others ahead of their own. If caregiving has left you feeling exhausted, stressed, isolated, or emotionally depleted, therapy can provide a space to focus on your own well-being while developing healthy coping strategies and boundaries. My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to your unique situation. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your coping skills, and feel more confident in your ability to navigate life's challenges and create meaningful change.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based approach that helps you navigate life’s changes by focusing on what truly matters to you. ACT also teaches you how to respond to difficult thoughts and emotions in a healthy way. With ACT, we’ll work on mindfulness to stay aware of the present moment, and I’ll help you change your relationship with unhelpful thoughts. You’ll also learn how to accept difficult emotions instead of avoiding them, identify your core values, and take steps toward achieving your goals. My goal is to help you live a life that aligns with your values, even when facing challenges or discomfort. Let me know if you'd like any changes or further details!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that is especially effective for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Together, we’ll work on recognizing negative thoughts, challenging them, and building new coping skills. This will help you create healthier habits, gain control over your thoughts and emotions, and feel more confident in your daily life. My goal is to provide you with practical tools to navigate challenges and make lasting, positive changes.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage intense emotions, build healthier relationships, and develop effective coping strategies. DBT is especially helpful for those struggling with anxiety, depression, or difficulty handling stress. Together, we’ll work on mindfulness, which will help you stay present and become more aware of your thoughts and emotions without judgment. I’ll also guide you in building skills to handle difficult emotions and stressful situations without feeling overwhelmed, so you can respond in a healthier, more controlled way. In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you manage emotions, handle stress, and improve relationships. DBT is especially useful if you struggle with anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed. Together, we’ll work on mindfulness to help you stay present and aware of your thoughts and emotions without judgment. I’ll also teach you skills to handle tough emotions and stressful situations in a healthier way. We’ll focus on better communication, setting boundaries, and expressing your needs so you can build stronger relationships and make better decisions. My goal is to help you feel more in control, balanced, and confident in your daily life.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy helps individuals cope with the emotions and challenges that come after a loss, whether it's the death of a loved one or another major life change. In our sessions, we’ll explore your emotions, process the impact of the loss, and find healthy ways to cope. Grief is a personal journey, and I’m here to support you in adjusting to life after the loss, finding meaning, and healing at your own pace. We’ll also address any complicated feelings to help you move forward.

Strength-Based

In strength-based therapy, I focus on helping you identify and build on your existing strengths and resources. Instead of focusing on problems, we’ll explore what you already do well—like your resilience, skills, and past successes—and use those to overcome current challenges. This approach helps you build confidence, tap into your potential, and feel more in control of your life moving forward.

Kevin is super charismatic and wants the best out of anyone while instilling belief in them that anything they want is achievable in due time. I have went over countless life issues with him and he always shows me the light towards certain things not needing so much attention and to place that attention elsewhere where it would be better off. I feel calm and safe speaking with him and have solved several personal issues via weekly/bi-weekly appointments.
