I am a nationally registered art therapist and a NC licensed clinical mental health counselor. I use art therapy to help BIPOC women process and explore situations that may be difficult to do so with words alone. You do not need to be a trained artist. Just come as you are and offer yourself the grace you need to open your heart to the exploration process.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First session is when I get to know you and your story. It may be a difficult process, but I’m grateful to hear your truth. Hearing your truth will allow me to better understand how I can support you on your healing journey. It is an honor to hold space for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I’ve been working with folks who struggle with anxiety and self-esteem since I was “baby” intern therapist (going on 5 years). I’ve worked with neurodivergence (ADHD and Autism) for 3-4 years. Not only that, I personally have been where you are. I am first generation Colombian-American. I always felt that I didn’t fit in. Everything about me was different and I was deemed “too slow” and lazy. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I learned I was neurodivergent with anxiety and depression. Being diagnosed helped me to understand myself. But what has helped me survive all these years was art and faith. I want to help people find their voice, tell their stories, and love themselves in the midst of chaos. Art therapy is for individuals who find that words aren’t enough to express their pain. It’s for processing the good, the bad, and the ugly. I take on a person-centered and existential approach as well as apply Christian-based techniques when requested.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I am Christian counselor, however, it is only brought into sessions when a client asks for it.

Compassion Focused

Validation of lived experiences is how we learn to overcome. We cannot ignore our experiences (both the good and the bad). I aim to help folks apply grace and compassion to themselves especially when they’ve encountered environments where shame and doubt have been taught to be the “norm.”

Existential

I’ve practice from an existential lense since the start of my therapist journey. Both good and bad coexist. What has happened cannot be changed but when we focus on the healing of here and now, we are better capable to navigate the future as it comes. Through the exploration of self-love and self-care, we are also able to step into the best version of ourselves.

Humanistic

I meet you where you are each session. Yes, there is a treatment plan with goals. But I strive to create an environment where we process/explore things as they come up week to week. Session is for you and what you deem is important to focus on.
