Greetings! I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) based in North Carolina. I completed my Master's program in 2011 at North Carolina Central University. I started my counseling journey in May 2011, working in community based mental health. I have since worked in both private and community settings. My experience has ranged from childhood and adolescent to older adulthood. I help my clients to deal with symptoms of anxiety and depression.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Starting your journey to wellness can be scary and knowing what to expect tends to help. In our first session, we will start with brief introductions. Then we will have a conversation about your reason for seeking a therapist. The information shared will help us to determine a plan for moving forward and addressing your concerns.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Having experienced and healed from my own grief and traumas, I have a great sense of empathy for those who are still fighting their way through. I also have the tools necessary to help you work through your concerns and find your best self.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Through ACT techniques, I attempt to help clients accept thoughts, experiences and challenges in their lives while working to find behavioral alternatives to still meeting their needs and personal goals. The main tenant in ACT therapy is that the challenges and negative thoughts that people face do not define nor prohibit their progression. You make a commitment to do [changed behavior] what needs to be done to reach your personal goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Using Cognitive Behavioral techniques, I help clients to find the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Helping clients to identify challenging or irrational thoughts and restructure them into more realistic and positive ones ultimately leads to better moods and changed behavior. I engage role play and skills practice to enhance problem solving, stress management and assertiveness. CBT is useful for managing anxiety, depression, phobias and PTSD.
